I put a left handed PGII septon on mine.  Shimano spinning reel posts are the same as baitcasting.  Made my 2500 feel right at home in my hand.

Interesting ~ I'll be checking that out.

Thanks.

When is the next TW sale? Do they do New years or valentines day or anything like that? I bought a gift card @ 10% off for a Curado 200 I 5.5:1 (this will be my first Shimano) and I was trying to see if I could hold out til the next sale. I wont be using the reel til late february/early march.

No they don't typically do new years or valentines day. You should really consider getting a Chronarch, they're on sale for $189 right now which is 30% off, and you get your extra 10% because you bought a gift card.

Yeah, the Stradic CI4 seems like a good deal at 149, compared to when it used to be 219 or something.

@j bab Thanks.I would consider the Chronarch, but I wanted the lower gear ratio curado for some 10-16 foot diving cranks (with the option to crank down some DD22's on occasion.)

And it kills me to not pick up a metanium for 300 bucks too...I just don't need one right now....

Besides the 25 days of christmas, the next sale isn't till memorial day I think.  They've got some shimano reels on sale right now, i'm not sur eif it includes the one your looking for though.  It's a 15% off everything sale usually.

Thanks. I just ordered my curado 200. I'm anxious to see how it stacks up against my STX.

Several posts on the Texas Fishing Forum that Academy is blowing out the Mettle Max-4 10 bearing reels (this is the Real Tree Camo one). Reg $79.99 for $9.88. This was confirmed in the Houston & Waco stores. I will check out a few in N. Texas tomorrow, so check your areas. One poster stated that a store that was sold out, honored the price & shipped to his home (he bought 4). Must be an in-store only deal because the on-line price is still $79.99.

Out of stock on the Mettle Max-4's at the 2 Academy's I checked. But they did order 2 for $21.26 shipped to me. Heck of a deal.

Just bought one at my local Cabela's yesterday morning. By the way, when I went to the register to pay for it, they scanned it at $99.99. I mentioned that the ad stated it was on sale for $69.99. The lady behind the counter checked the ad and corrected the price.

Day 10 on TW is already live and it's pretty disappointing...

Yea I haven't really seen anything so far that is going to force me to make an order by the time it's over. Has anyone used that Sunline FX2 braid?

Yes, and like all the Sunline products I use I think it's great line. Now the difference between it and the new BX2 is the dia BX2 thinner and has a coating on it making it very very slick and quiet through guides. The FX2 is more abrasion resistant and made specifically for frogging. The FX2 is very limp also and I had no bleeding or fading in 4 mos. Hope this helps.

I use 50lb FX2 and its my go to braid. I don't know how I feel about the Green/Blue line though..

It has an incredibly thin diameter for 50lb braid and I don't have any digging issues.
