Blame the US Supreme Court, not Wisconsin. To be fair, legally you should have been paying sales tax on your online purchases when you filed your WI taxes in years past.

This is how it was supposed to be in WI, but they never went after the people that didn’t. All purchases are supposed to be taxed, if you aren’t charged them online, then you were required to do it when you file taxes. Interestingly enough, I believe there was a bill recently passed requiring all online stores to charge sales taxes for all states by a certain time. Might be why some do and some don’t have it in their systems yet.

I grew up in Geneva, nice area, and did spend a lot of time racing RC cars down in Illinois. I do love N WI, but that might not be till the retirement years. 

 

I talked with my wife and she does list all our online purchases on our taxes. This just limits what I can purchase with the gift cards I get at Christmas is my only complaint.

No I did not, but I did order some Aftco stuff and it was the same situation. I'd called previously about Daiwa and Shimano and was told the invoice would show the discount, which it did.

A lot of states are now charging taxes on online purchases on websites that they otherwise we're not. This all took effect in 2019. I live in Minnesota and we're now getting sales tax on eBay, which kinda sucks.

It is just so frustrating that people take advantage of it and screw it up for the rest of us. We always do our taxes so we get a decent return, so adding our internet purchases to our taxes had an invisible impact to us.

state and local tax deductions are capped at $10k now.  I'm well over that in IL with just property taxes and state income tax.  I'm sure you're not far off in WI

Glad you were able to take advantage. I had never even heard of that reel, may have looked at it a little closer had I know some other people liked it. What size did you get? For freshwater fishing or salt?
