I went to a different Academy location today and they had the same type set up in the back of the store, but the prices and selection were a little different. They had a bunch of the same type items for $1.98 like the other store, but they didn't have all the lower price stuff. So it looks like it varies by location and maybe by time too. It looks like it's set up to be gradually marked down further.

Did they get updated recently? I have noticed way way more of them popping up in the last six months or so.

It gets updated annually I think. It’s to the point that nobody takes it seriously anymore.  Sure, if you eat enough lead it will hurt you, but putting warning labels on literally anything with it in it just defeats the purpose of warnings.

Apparently the change in the law was approved in 2016, to become effective August 2018. The change requires a new kind of labeling, and if the manufacturer doesn't supply the labeling, the retailer is responsible for it. Academy has a note on their site saying they hope to resume shipments in early 2019. They should have known it was coming for two years, but apparently did nothing about it and lost sales to California for several months. Lots of lost money. Somebody probably lost their job over that.

The new labels have to have the ! triangle and state what type of hazard they pose:

There may be more changes besides that, I dunno. All that legalese gives me a headache.

If any of you have K-Mart store around you they are unfortunately going out of business. The fishing section in mine was marked down 30% off everything.

I cleared them out of $2 Z-Man Chatterbaits and $4 Berkley Warpigs and Squarebulls.

I couldn't get this to load in my browser without the sd tag in the URL

Shows out of stock but they are taking orders. Make sure you buy this from Amazon not a 3rd party fulfilled by Amazon.

AmericanLegacy has the Shimano SLX combos on sale for $129.99

Are these the exact same reel/rod that you get if you bought them separate? If I remember correctly, one of the Lew Mach combos used a slightly different rod with their combo compared to the rod they sold on it's own.

I believe it's the same rod as if you were to purchase the rod separately.

Looks like you can select your ratios, and one thing - the 7'2" and 7'5" are MH/XF rods - they don't directly call that out.  the 7'0" is MH/F

Not sure. You pick your options when I  looked. Check rod numbers?

I just checked the rod numbers and they're the same as the non-combo rod numbers.

My Lew's Mach Crush combo rod is the exact same rod as brick and mortar sells. I don't think they sell the Mach Crush rod separately anyway.

It may have been the Mach I then? Actually I think it was the Mach II (the green one).

Stopped by local Dick’s (Chicagoland).  Not much in teems of buy 5/get 5, but couldn’t say no to Duckett Ghost 6’8” MH spinning rod for $50. Also picked up a closeout  Okuma Stratus V BC reel for $25.  Already have couple of these - not bad at their usual selling price ($40), so a no brainer at $25.

Thanks, figured it out.

Though the codes do not work for me (anymore). Was that a limited time sale that ran out?

Probably a limited time offer or something of that nature.

Guys just wanted to share that I just got a great deal on 2 Tatula LT 2500D-XH spinning reels from American Legacy from their eBay store. $136 each, free shipping. Listing is still up if anyone is in need of one.

Theyre gonna go on 2 new spinning rods we got for my wife.

Heck Im debating picking up a third to get something lighter weight for one of my rods.

Their listing for the 2000 size was $149, but the 2500 is $136. If you can’t find I can send you a link.

2018 Supreme court ruling affected how online vendors have to collect tax, even if they're selling to a state where they don't have a physical presence.  I'm assuming there's a phase-in, or maybe an allowance for smaller mom-and-pop outfits, but ALF is a big time retailer.

Since everyone who lives in a state that has sales tax was supposed to be reporting their non-taxed online purchases to the state anyway, this makes it simpler, no?  /s

Popped in my Academy today and they didn’t have squat. Talked to a worker and said when something is marked down it gets bought up within the hour. Just have to get lucky. Too many fishermen in MS for deals to sit on the shelf
