I'm looking to buy a helix 7 MSI. Currently $100 off at academy is the best deal I can find. This is my first time buying electronics, should I wait and expect a big discount for Black Friday somewhere? Felt like they were on sale a lot last year but I didn't know what I was looking at until recently after some research.

They usually have great deals on electronics during Black Friday. I got one of my Garmins during Black Friday for around $400 off.

TW…being shady….check your prices before and after adding cart

I added several random items to my cart and it did this to 2 out of 5. Cmon TW let’s get it together! Sadly, looks like this will be the first time I don’t order from them on Black Friday in many years

20% off of $4.99 is $3.99, as advertised. The crossed-out price that you see in the cart appears to be MSRP, based on the manufacturer's site.

At least their math is right, but I don't like how they have all the different prices that don't align.

Show the 20% off their advertised price just to make it cleaner. Why confuse the shopper more? haha

Yeah, all these sites are getting everyone too hyped up pre-black friday. Sure there are some good sales going on, but usually the 'door busters' are in very limited QTY and only happen on BF. There are a few 'ad scans' that have been leaked online for bass pro, etc if you search google, you can see what their doorbuster black friday sales will be. I got my Garmin 93sv for a good price. However, I wasn't too picky and picked up what was on sale, etc. If you're looking for a very specific unit, you may have to fall back to a site that has a sitewide discount like 10% off, etc.

The door buster sales aren’t always in person. I got one of my 93SV UHD’s from Bass Pro online during their Black Friday sale.

Agreed, mine was online as well, but still in limited qty it seemed... Glad I got it, I love my 93sv, especially for the price :)

I bought two 73sv's a couple years back from Bass Pro online as well, right after they first started shipping with the GT54-UHD transducer.

WestMarine's Black Friday sales will drop on Thursday, I can't recall if they had one on the Helix or not but they have some good ones for Garmin and Lowrance which I can confirm. Also keep an eye on Bass Pro Shops which have yet to drop - and if you trust it, ebay (I have a few sellers with a good track record at least)

Presleys Outdoors have Megabass Vision 110 standard and + 1 for $19.99 and the Megabass Vision 110 Jr for $15.99 and the 110 Jr + 1 for $15.99. Colors are limited but I was still able to find a couple in each one that I liked.

I am new to the fishing community/forum -- this has been a very informative thread -- I do have a question in regard to what seems a new BF sales process for Tackle Warehouse --

-if an item is currently on "Clearance" for the older model of a reel (example - Shimano Stradic - $179) and there is a newer model listed on the site as well (example - Shimano Stradic - $219) -- will the "Clearance" model also be part of the "BF Weeklong Sale for reels" ? (my guess is the sale will be 20% off of Shimano reels ?) -- which would put the older model at approx. $143 and the newer model at approx. $175 -- or if the "Clearance" reel is NOT part of the "BF Weeklong Sale for reels" then the newer model would actually come in less than the older "Clearance" model ($175 new, $179 "Clearance") -- caveat is the older model seems to have significantly more positive reviews than the newer model

-it does seem they are having a "Clearance Item Sale" in January once all the other sales are complete -- so it might mean I need to take the chance that the older reel will still be available at that time to get the higher rated model at the lowest price (I am in no rush to get the reel as winter will be roaring into MN any day now -- so if I have to wait until January to get the right deal then that is what I will need to do)

Thank you for reading my stream of thought post and thank you in advance for any info./suggestions.

Does anyone know if tackle trap will have a sale soon? I need a couple sets of gears, and the normal 10% off code is not working. Thanks!

At a guess, with the Stradic fl being on clearance it'll be included in the sale, but most likely the new Stradic fm won't be as new Shimano gear is typically excluded from sales.

@MeatHead1313 thank you for the info. in regard to what will and what will not be part of the Tackle Warehouse BF sales. I appreciate you sharing that info. as I would not have known about Shimano typically being excluded from sales.

Are there other brands that fall into that same category ? (ie, not typically included in sales)

Thank you

I got my line for the season today. Sufix wasn't listed as having a special rate but I ended up getting something like 60% Sufix Siege plus a free crankbait with every spool! Not bad!

I am at the point in my tackle journey, that I only need to spend 100 or less a year on tackle, unless a reel or rod breaks. I think I have defeated the bait monkey

This is me too.  At some point you come to face the reality that you don't need to keep buying more stuff because you'll never even use it.  I think some of us also just have more will power than others.  The lure companies want you to keep buying more though.  Its a big scheme...

The primary issue now at Scheels is that all of their open water fishing tackle has been 95% removed.  Its actually been gone for over a month already.  I think they lose a lot of business because of this seasonal change.  They miss out on in-store sales for most of the entire fourth quarter and at least 2.5 months of the new year.

Another issue is they concentrate on the 'Yuppie Sports-people' - 60 page 8.5" x 10" 'catalogue'...and half of it is clothing.

Of course, clothing accounts for 60%+ of the store too....

I think at some point too you've tried enough to know what you like and what works in your area so you can keep purchases to mostly restocks.

I observe that my last couple TW orders are utterly unsexy: line, weights, hooks, split rings, and snaps. I'm tired of buying lures that don't produce like my tried and true lures. Treble hooks are what I buy most nowadays because I like replacing my hooks every couple weeks.

That's probably the majority of what I buy nowadays too.  Line, weights, single hooks, plastics, etc. Items that periodically need replacing.

I'll be perfectly honest, I went overboard in 2021 on tackle.  The first pandemic year wiped out shelves and I ran out of stuff I regularly used.  I panicked.  So when I started seeing it again, I bought it.  A lot of it.  I am not going to run out for a long time now.

I'm 90% in store shopper.  I'm not really an online buyer.  I prefer to pick up, hold, and look at items before I purchase them.  Just a creature of habit.
