Anyone interested in a low-price Aluminum framed reel - Fleet Farm currently has the CA-80XS (8.3:1) on sale for $59.99 - that's $40 off retail

How do these compare to the Tatula or Fuego?

It has standard mag braking instead of the MagForce. It's also a smaller spool - 80 vs 100. So take that as you will.

Pointed it out to the wife, and she freed me enough spare cash to get one...it's going on my 765 for my pitching reel.

I have one that I use for medium depth cranks and squarebills, the reel is very smooth and casts quite well!  I have thought about buying some more for other rods!

When I gotta 'scrounge' to pay $60 for a reel on sale - what makes you think I can just 'drop' $250 for a reel?

I’m sure it’s not intended as a jab. We all spend what we feel comfortable spending, and never feel shame in it. Everyone’s budget is different.

I have one in 6 speed and I’m really happy with mine. At that price I would buy one but I’m not in the market for a high speed reel. Pretty sure Daiwa is discontinuing this model which I feel is a shame.

They are - doesn't appear on Diawa's site anymore.

ISO higher end rain jacket.  Has anyone found Black Friday sale on 'expensive' outerwear?

The frogg toggs pilot pro in real tree blue is still $99 on the website.

If you have a cash back account with Rakuten,  today it has 20% cash back on Academy,  and Academy itself is also having a site-wide 20% off Cyber Monday sale.  Thus, it'll totally be 36% off site wide.   Shimano is excluded, but Daiwa, Abu, Lew's... and Megabass are all included. There are some nice selections left, like Tatula SV, Dobyns Fury, some Oneten, Oneten+1, ...etc.

Ordered.  Thank you very much.   I know FT have their detractors,  but I am a fan.

What are the criticisms? I’ve not shopped for jacket and bibs before.

One day special on Amazon

NOCO Genius GEN5X2 - 5amp per bank, 2 banks - handles all battery types from FLA to LiFePo.

List $164, regular Amazon price $129, today only it's $88.

Yes I ordered one - it was on my list for the boat re-build...saving money is a good thing.

They approach waterproofing differently than other companies, at least on their lower end stuff.   Their entry (and some mid) level stuff uses Tyvek and also some sort of rubberized plastics materials.   As opposed to some others' triple seams and DWR.  So, many find the feel and noise are a bit off-putting.  These criticisms don't necessarily apply to their top tier stuff, anyway...but you know how a brand can get defined by a single product.

Still, if it is pouring out, I will stay much drier in my $20 Frogg Toggs jacket than I will in my $80 Columbia rain coat.

One of the items in my wishlist is FT's entry level Ultra-Lite2 rainsuit (pants and jacket) - as a budget conscious person (read not much money to spend), it it worth it?

I have at least 3 pieces of entry level Frogg Toggs stuff, but I have no clue what 'lines' they equate to.  But my experience.....started with most basic Tyvek jacket many years ago.  No pockets, very cheap, packable.  It has been abused, packed for months at a time, no 'maintenance'....and it is perfectly waterproof to this day.  I added the Tyvek basic pants a year or two later....same deal....super cheap; no pockets; elastic waistband....no zipper/no fly, etc.   Very packable, and totally waterproof.  The biggest drawback to this material is that it doesn't breath very well and can get a bit hot....my answer, is to take them off when it stops raining.    BUT....my advice here, is to skip the pants and go straight to bibs.  If you wear that suit in a good rain....you will get your azz wet, especially if seated for any length of time.  I got FT bibs that are more rubbery plastic than Tyvek and love them. (Maybe Pro-Advantage?) Very dry and while not insulated, they do insulate well enough and cut the wind effect.  I just layer underneath in the colder weather.

Ya - with bibs you get an overlapping layer on your chest and abdomen, so it's warmer.

I love that you are incorporating rakuten, this is very smart!

I only am showing 15% cash back myself in my rakuten account. Still pretty dang reputable!

You would freeze fishing in the kind of early and late season air temps and north wind we have here.

Btw, cotton is just about useless in true cold, especially as a base layer.

Same here - I've even fought ice-flows on opening day which is the middle of May here.

Wool, where-ever you can. Insulates even when wet.
