How do y'all find out about these eBay sales ? I know everyone is pretty good about posting it here but how do you find out?

Visit ebay a few times a day and hope it says "pop up sale". That's all you can do. I get email's about the sales but it's usually after it's already started.

And have the app installed on your phone or whatever - sometimes the sales are only if you use the app to order.

Yes, in store and wasn’t advertised there either. They had it marked down to $75 and another sticker full price, I asked someone about it and they scanned at $43

Not sure if this is a great deal or not, but Cabela’s has all of the Picasso special FX shock blades on sale for $6.88. Limited styles left

Thanks dude! I've wanted to try these for a while, especially early spring, but could never justify the price.

From an email, Dick's is having a buy 5, get 5 free in-store clearance (lesser or equal value per the email).

Stopped by the local Dicks last night to check out the clearance section.  Really had to fight the urge, left with nothing... highlights were a few big spools of 80lb power pro, 3.5" gama swim senkos, 130 whopper plopper, gulp stuff, sprinker frogs... then the usual assortment of random old junk.  The other thing is they have some clearance items in the normal areas, just have to look for the price ending in 3 or 7 i believe, like a random rapala crank or some gama flipping hooks etc.

Anybody know when the next eBay 20% off coupon code will be coming around? I assume they rotate on a regular basis so it'll probably be right around the same time it was last year which is what I'm trying to figure out. I would think the first 20% off of the new year would be coming shortly.

This particular 5/5 sale has been ongoing since back in October, but they keep adding items and have added some recently.

They put color coded dots on the times to represent a certain discount over the lowest price marked, and have a sign to say that for fishing "tackle."  The dots are on lures, reels, all kinds of stuff.  To me, the lures are "tackle."

It didn't seem to be this way before, but now Dick's signs indicate you can no longer stack the "buy 5/get 5" sale with the dots - so you can pick one deal or the other, but not both.  At least, that's what staff in the stores will tell you.

Items with dots now never ring up at the sale price, so you have to ask for a pricing exception every time.

Sometimes, the lodge managers just want to get the stuff out and will gladly back you up and tell the folks on cash to provide the discount.

In the store closest to me, the "lodge" manager insists that the dots only apply to "tackle" meaning certain hooks and plain jigs, and oddly, old cheap fishing reels, but not to lures.

In one store I went into in another state, the lodge manager proudly told me that he'd cleaned out most of the good clearance stuff himself before it got to customers.

So, the mood/attitude/competence of the store managers and checkout person has significant bearing on the ease of getting a discount.

Bottom line:  yep, from store to store, and day to day, YMMV.

Couple of reels, really like the looks of the Shimano SLX and the Abu Garcia Revo X :laugh7:.
