The deal with WM is they "reset" their fishing selections in Feb-March and clear out certain items to make room for new ones, sometimes just the same gear but with revised packaging.  

A few pointers:

• There will be some things in common in terms of what is on sale, and what the prices are.
• Some stores move faster than others in terms of getting stuff out.
• Some are prone to getting cleaned out early in the game before prices drop much (esp. those near lakes, oceans, vacation hotspots).
• Some stores just have nothing on sale (esp. those near lakes, oceans, vacation hotspots).

So, someone finding shad raps for $1 does not mean it is likely you'll find them that price everywhere.

Update on the $35 Tatula CT type-R! This morning I received an email from PayPal saying the item was shipped. I have no idea what this means really. If it was a compromised account I think the persons pay pal would have to also be compromised to say it’s shipped. Also not sure what they have to gain by saying it’s shipped if it’s a scam? Tiny bit of hope that it may actually come. Still believe it probably will not.

Good luck! The seller on ebay never accepted my paypal payment so I went in and cancelled the transaction. I saw yesterday there were tons of them from different sellers at that same price point....

The $99 ones from TriAceTackle are legit - I've ordered several reels from that seller before. Just got 2 Fuego CTs a couple of weeks ago with that non-restricted 20% off coupon - ~$56 each.

 

**EDIT - just noticed TriAceTackle2016 shows up as a valid place to use the current restricted 15% coupon.

@snake95  Yeah I've been checking the 3 WM's in my area for the last few years now and make a habit of checking out others if I'm driving by.  The discontinued items I understand but the Gamakatsu hooks go on clearance every year at 2 of the locations only to see them stock up on the exact same ones a month later at full price, same thing as the ratltraps.  Packaging is exactly the same.  I'm not complaining but it just seems odd in a good way.  The deals never last no matter the location.

 

TackleTrap has high end Loomis demos for 20-30% off right now.

Find one of those self scanners and make sure that is the price.  Most the stuff I see has a clearance price of $3 and when you scan it the lower price comes up.  Just sayin Walmart doesn't treat the clearance stuff with any priority.

Right on the money about everything regarding these WM sales. Was not originally a big fan, but man they have some crazy low prices when this clearance happens.

@MountainMan83  You need to see if they will at least price match another Walmart here in CT.  Every store I'm in Powerpro is 19 for 300 yards.  You must have been in the anti clearance aisle.

Something like that happened to me. It seems someone picked up a spool of Power Pro off the regular rack and dropped it in the clearance isle.

 

My prediction was they were going to buy the pro but found cheaper line in the clearance isle so they left it there instead of returning it to the proper area.

Speaking of spring sales, Cabela's has ALL Rapala baits discounted (looks to be 25% off). There's some good prices on DT's, BX Brats and Shad Raps.. Basically around 2 bucks off everything.

Amazon has the Daiwa coastal TWS reel for around $150-160.  Competing sites have similar pricing.  Retail is around $230.  I have one for dual purpose nearshore and bass, but use mostly for bass and just ordered a second.  A little heavy but great handles for cranking and a lefty.
