Nice catch. This isn't the first old post that got brought to the top. Must be a slow time for fishing. I know I prefer to sit home and peruse the Internet in this kind of weather. I also am one who would like to know what he finally purchased and his thoughts after using the reel for awhile. Quote

BassGirl71 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I've never owned an Abu, so I can't really say anything about it. I can say I've used the Stealth and other reels from KastKing, and they have performed solidly for me. I think they are a good option. 1 Quote
JLeon77 Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 I have 3 of the Stealths and they are great reels for the cost. They are super light and cast a mile. I would say that they are comparable to the lower level Abu that you mentioned. 1 Quote
Largemouth21 Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 pro max 3 is what I have, it's okay for the money. just be warned it has a smaller line capacity, about 145 yards of 12 lb monofilament line. Quote

It's far more than is actually needed for sure. 3 Quote

NathanDLTH Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 I have a feeling Daiwa will be gunning for the top spot with their new improvements. Tried and true company. I own Abu, Lews, Shimano, 13, and Daiwa. Love em all, however would love one style of reel for all my set-ups. 1 Quote

That thing is super fast. I can't wait to get it out on the water. Quote

jdz197 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 I bought a Stealth on a quick sale on amazon for $35 and after a few days it's gotten less and less smooth. I took the side cover off and the resistance is definitely coming from the braking side of things as the handle and spool run free without that side plate on. Fully assembled it will stop spinning very quickly. It did not come with any manual, just a parts breakdown. Any ideas what's going on here? Is there some other brake adjustment outside of the dial that I'm overlooking? Quote
j_blaze14 Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 ive used both, and own both. the black max is tiny compared to the stealth, if size is a consideration. the stealth has a far superior handle. the black max also is labeled as a 6.4:1 but it feels like a 5:1, not sure why. they are both smooth, cast a mile, and reel in big fish. for the money, i prefer the kastkings. just a bit better features at the same pricepoint as other reels, which was their goal all along. i put a kastking royal legend handle on my bmax3 and now love it. 1 Quote

Im waiting for them to put the cork handles on a carbon fiber crank handle! That would be sweet. Quote
