Glubberglubby Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 !!!!!PLEASE HELP ME!!!!, My friend caught this largemouth bass and we are having trouble determining the size of the fish, it's really important. For reference he is 5'11 inches tall. http://imgur.com/a/aiq56 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted May 20, 2016 Super User Posted May 20, 2016 (edited) Welcome aboard! Almost impossible to do an analysis of that bass even with your friend's height. How far is the bass in front of him, etc., are other things that would need to be known. The bottom line is any of us will only provide a best guess. In the 4 pound range is mine. Sorry it is so wide, but tough to know for sure. It has a good-size head, probably a female and all spawned out... Just my .02. Others may have a better guess. Edited May 20, 2016 by Darren. adjusted my guesstimate after looking at picture again... 2 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted May 20, 2016 Super User Posted May 20, 2016 I would guess 3-3.5 pounds. It has head and length of a larger fish, but looks to be on the thin side. If it had more of a belly that fish could go over 4 easy. 3 Quote
"hamma" Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 looking at it i'd say around 4 or 5 lb,...its belly doesnt look full Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted May 21, 2016 Super User Posted May 21, 2016 Looks kind of skinny for it's length. It's really hard to judge but I would say 3.5lb Quote
SHIMANOFAN Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 That's a 12 lber if I ever saw one ? That's my story and I'm sticking to it! 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted May 21, 2016 Super User Posted May 21, 2016 Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Nice bass. So you guys saw & held that fish but you're having difficulty determining it's size ? Imagine how we feel. These items are very helpful with that. A-Jay 5 Quote

Bass Justice Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Hard to tell without seeing the belly as well. With that being said I have pulled a bunch this season out of ponds very similar in size and I am 5'11 as well, and they were all right at 3lb or just above Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 That is a DD !!! (decent/dink) Really, 4 lbs would be my guess, but my scale shrinks all my fish. 2 Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 21, 2016 Super User Posted May 21, 2016 Based on average finger/hand size the bass is approx 21 1/2" long, average body girth about 75% of the length. Formula length X length X girth / 1200 = 6 lbs. Tom PS, simply cut a length of line for length and girth or... Get a scale. Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 21, 2016 Super User Posted May 21, 2016 Ain't no way that bass is over 3-3 1/4 lbs! 4 Quote
KYBassin' Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I'd say between 18-20 inches long...between 3.0 - 3.5 lbs. 1 Quote

Wildbillb Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Next time take a photo with the rod/reel up against it. When you get home look at the picture and put a tape measure to your rod/feel and you'll come close to its length. Quote
clh121787 Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 3.5 pounds I'd say. Maybe a nice one for the area you fish. Quote
