Tackle Storage

I am looking to get some new bait boxes for crankbaits, jerkbaits, topwaters, jigs, ect.  

Just wondering what everyone was using and why they like them.  Plano, flambeau's,etc.

You looking for bulk storage or on the water? I actually use a custom bag for crankbaits that I hang them in PVC pipe for on the water, and have larger plano boxes that I store them in at home.

I usually have to fish from the bank when I'm away from home for college, so I keep all my stuff in a big tackle bag. Therefore I use a lot of Plano 3600 size boxes, because 3700s are just too big. My favorite is actually the 3601, it's a shallow box. This is good for me because I have a lot of tackle for a bank fisherman, but not so much that I need deep compartments to stack 4 of the same exact bait in one slot like some guys do in their boats. So the shallow box lets me keep all of my boxes technique specific (a jerkbait box, a lipless box, a terminal box, etc) while allowing me to fit more in the bag. Three 3601 boxes are the same height as two 3600 boxes.

That being said, this might not apply if you have a boat with huge compartments where you can get away with using 3700 size boxes. I use plano because they are the most easy to come by around here and I like the prolatch.

For hardbaits I like the Plano crankbait boxes with the angled dividers.  Medium is the most versatile but the small/large are useful if you have the right sized baits.  If you put Owner Safety Caps on your trebles you can fit quite a few into each slot without the hooks fouling the baits and getting tangled.  I'll try to take a picture when I get home.

I use plano's 3700 boxes for my baits, and flambeau 3700 deep boxes for soft plastics (although they are not called 3700 but they are the same size). I would buy some flambeau 3700 size boxes, they come with z-rust tabs that will help with rust.

I don't know what your budget is, but if I was getting new boxes I'd be looking into those awesome black and red bass mafia ones.

The bait casket and bait coffins look awesome but expensive. I use plano and bass pro

For plastics I have settled on the Plano guide series two tiered 4700 boxes and a few standard 3700s and 3600s. I have attached pictures of my Crankbait bag and the box I use at home for bait storage. If I am on a longer trip and need more cranks than the bag can hold I will toss them in a deep 3700 box.

The 3771's are great for soft plastics  but I wouldn't recommend them for hardbaits - you can't really "stack" hardbaits on top of each other because the space doesn't run deep and i feel there's a lot of wasted space.

I prefer to use flambeaus. Every since changing to them I haven't had any problems with rust. Why buy expensive hooks and baits if they're going to rust out without proper care?
