Ski Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 I have one of eight rod and reels dedicated to using hollow body frogs that I use when around the FP-13 slop. I have been eyeing the blue gill imitation baits and like the concept of the predator seeing the silhouette of a gill vs. frog. Anyone have any experience with these baits? I have one on order but not sure how much action it will see this year as our season is rapidly coming to a close. R/ Chris Quote
Jtrout Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 My brother bought 3 live targets from dicks at 13 dollars a peice. He gave me one i have used it twice only got one blow up no hook up lol i look forward to using it more when the weather really heats up! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 24, 2016 Global Moderator Posted May 24, 2016 Have not used mine but just know that a good portion of the underside of the bait is just plain, unpainted lead, but any birds flying over should get to see that really nice bluegill paint job! 1 Quote

Yea, I saw the unpainted led on the bottom side, but a jar of testers paint that I already have is a easy fix. R/ Chris Quote

That really is kind of irritating. It looks so great on the top. Don't know why they only went halfway. Quote

That's the obvious reason, but I'm still baffled why they would go halfway on such a hyped up bait. Guess they just didn't care. Quote
Ski Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 Not nearly as bad as I thought, Same color both sides except the added hooks. A little black or white paint and its all good. Not the color I was interested in as much as the silhouette in the water. R/ Chris Quote
