trick worms Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 For a leader in my spinning rod with 15# power pro, what type of flouro should I use? Cheap regular fluoro or fluoro meant for leaders? Thanks Quote
Yudo1 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I use sniper for leader. The stuff designated as "leader," is a little different but it's expensive. I have used cheaper fluoro for leaders for years without issue. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted May 19, 2016 Super User Posted May 19, 2016 "cheap" is a relative term, but something like seaguar red label will be fine for leader material, maybe not main line, but no problem for leader. Quote
fishindad Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I use Sniper as well but will probably switch to actual leader material one day. Quote
Bologna2202 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Seagaur blue label leader material works great for me. I used seagaur abrazX as leader material until I started having issues with it. I then bought a spool of the seagaur blue label and haven't looked back since. Not once have I had a break off with it... except from pike ? Quote
lakeannaangler Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Seaguar red label fluorocarbon is good for leader. The stuff meant for leader is stiffer than regular fluorocarbon. Quote
TxHawgs Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I definitely wanna pick up some of the Seaguar blue label leader spools. As mentioned above its normally stiffer material which is what I want when fishing topwater w braid. As it will aid in not getting wrapped in the trebles as often. 1 Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted May 19, 2016 Super User Posted May 19, 2016 Theoretically speaking, the "real" fluorocarbon leader material is best for that purpose. Supposedly, it's stiffer and more abrasion resistant than the full spool stuff. However, it comes in small quantity, expensive spools and to be perfectly honest with you, I've never seen an advantage from using regular fluorocarbon in reel filler spools. 1 Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I have been using Vicious 10# for a few years with no issues. I like regular mono when i can get away with it. 1 Quote
VtSmallmouth Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I use seaguar invizx as a leader, no problems. Quote
BassThumb Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 I'm going to try a spool or two of 'leader' fluorocarbon soon. I've been using reel-fill for years and I want to see if it's worthy of the hype. Quote
