Briery Creek Lake and Sandy River Reservoir info?

I'll be bass fishing Briery Creek Lake and Sandy River Reservoir for the first time this coming weekend, one day at each lake from a kayak. Was wondering if anyone could share some info about these two bodies of water?  I'm assuming the bass are in post spawn by now.   Any tips about depths to focus on, patterns, tackle, or any other info that would be helpful would be greatly appreciated. I know to be aware of submerged stumps in Briery.

where your rain gear if going out saturday....gonna be a rainy one i believe.

I saw some on beds Monday at Briery and caught a few females that had not spawned. The water clairty is just a couple of inches so I was seeing them with Humminbird 360 in the 3'-6' depth range.

Water temp around 70 degrees.

I was there mostly doing some sonar unit testing, so I just checked one area then fished for four hours and caught 26 bass. My avatar was the effective presentation. The crappie were being a nuisance too:

Good idea to have a nice size walking bait - from time to time you will see some shad chasing on the surface

Depending on how you like to fish, there are places w alot of timber and large fish. Fresh line at a minimum and consider a slightly heavier line.

Junebug on plastics was a good color for me at Briery Creek. 

Wayne consistently catches bass there read his posts.

I went to look for Briery Creek Lake, couldn't find it on Bing.  That's what I get for using Bing maps.

Doesn't make sense that Briery Creek is not on the Bing map since it is older than Sandy River Res that is on the Bing map.

If you want a HD contour map of those two lakes, purchase the Navionics Boating App for your smartphone or tablet. The HD map is the Sonar Charts map layer.

If you have a sonar/GPS unit, the Navionics+ and Navionics Hotmaps Platinum East products can have that map layer if you download Sonar Charts to the card when updating.

I've begun reading up on the different Sonar/GPS units, was thinking of starting off with a Hummingbird Helix 5si, it has GPS and Navionics... It seems to get good reviews and it is the most affordable mid to high end units I have found... I was somewhat shocked that some higher end units are in the 2-3K range.

It does not have Navionics map software. I just has a base map that is just some color--Uni-map.

The unit can read Navionics and Lakemaster map software.

You may find a package that includes a Navionics+ map card.

May try to drive up to Briery tomorrow if rain not too bad. Assuming you can still take bass boat in there as long as you use trolling motor only with 10hp rule. Definitely looking forward to pulling some lunkers out with some senkos.
