Hey guys, can you giving me some advice on buying a baitcaster under75.00

i do not have any additional funds to move up in price. I watched a video on YouTube where they guy was using an Abu Garcia Black Max . Good choice or can I do better? Keep in mind I am just getting back into this and have NO experience with a baitcaster.

I need to be buying another reel like I need a hole in the head.?

DARN YOU BAIT MONKEY!!!!!!

Get a lews lfs speed spool off ebay for $80. It is just a little over your budget but it is a much better reel. Very user friendly, magnetic brakes, aluminum body

I know you said you don't have additional funds but if you could move up just $5 you can get a awesome reel in the lews lfs speed spool. $80 all day on eBay.

Personally I'd save and start off at the $100 price range. Usually anything below that and the quality and performance are subpar and suffer long term

Buy used off the flea market.  Don't be afraid to post a "Want to buy" ad.

Do you currently own a casting rod or does the $75 budget need to buy the rod as well?  You can get the black max combo on your budget.  If you don't need a rod then some of the reels suggested by others should serve you well.  I have no experience with a black max but do own a silver max reel.  I understand that the black and silver max are the same reel other than the silver has a flipping switch and maybe and extra bearing in there somewhere?  I don't use my silver max very much, mostly because my 15 year old son has grown very attached to it.  He throws everything on that reel and has very little trouble with it.  When he changes lures it usually takes him a few casts to get it dialed in but once he gets the adjustments where he likes them he can handle his own with that reel.  I do pick it up once in a while and it still impresses me for the cost.

Academy has 2-3 H2O reels, Lew's American Hero is a great little reel, Quantum has a couple, & Pfluger does.

Check eBay, I got one of the original pflueger supreme (model before the xt) for 65 bucks on there brand new.

American Legacy has their Daiwa Fuego's on sale at $78.  If you sign up for the first time you get $25 off a $100 order so you should be able to get an additional $25 worth of stuff for free.

Cabela's Prodigy is on sale for $55, I believe. Aluminum body, 10 bearings, Aluminum spool and Magforce magnetic cast control, 7.9oz. and it's available in both right/left and two gearings.

Go with the black Max. I use it for everything and it handles just fine. You can upgrade later when you get comfortable and confident.

Made by Daiwa.  I've got one of the older models.  Think i paid $60 for it.  Built like a tank.  Sounds like a tank.  Solid reel.  Excellent buy.  Especially at that price.

I would grab a Lew's LFS off eBay for $80 like others recommended.

Go with the black max. I have it myself, worth it all the way.

If you aren't needing it RIGHT now, wait for the BPS Pro Qualifier to go on sale. Great reel at the retail price, but when they go on sale they should be in your price range and a steal! If you happen to have rewards points it sweetens the deal even further. The one I bought this year I think I only paid $50 after sale + rewards.

So, I ordered a Daiwa Aird Coastal and the little voice kept whispering MISTAKE, MISTAKE, MISTAKE, so being hard headed as I am it took awhile for me to listen but I did and went ahead and cancelled the order. After looking at some of the replies here I ordered the Daiwa Fuego instead and got a great deal on it. On a couple of different sites it got great reviews so I thought I would give it a try.

Now that I have a baitcaster coming I need to learn how to use it. Watching videos is helpful but sure wish I could get hands on instruction on this thing. I noticed BPS gives fly casting instructions but nothing for baitcasting. Seems to me that could be an added value, "buy a baitcaster and we will teach you how to use it. Didn't buy it from us, no problem, for a small fee (10-15 dollars)we will teach you also."?

You chose wisely my friend.  Great deal on a great reel.  The monkey has been whispering in my ear to snag one as well.
