Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 18, 2016 Global Moderator Posted May 18, 2016 This year is my first full year of owning my kayak and I haven't done much from it until yesterday. I only had about 2 hours to fish in the cold rain, but it was my best day in the yak to date. I caught 35 bass in one hour and 45 minutes on one of my bladed jigs and a YUM beaver along the edges of the shoreline grass. My 3rd or 4th fish was the biggest of the day and my new PB bass from the kayak at 4lb 2oz. It ate the bladed jig in less than a foot of water and gave me a pretty good ride. 18 Quote

Super User Master Bait'r Posted May 18, 2016 Super User Posted May 18, 2016 I can just see 'ol Blue getting towed around by the big girls, smile ear to ear. Kayak fishing is fun even if they don't have a dancefloor up front. 2 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted May 18, 2016 Super User Posted May 18, 2016 Fantastic! It is so fun when a nice bass takes you for a ride in your yak. 1 Quote

There is no way possible for me to get the Stratos in this little lake, and by the time it was off the trailer the motor would almost be on the opposite bank. It's lakes, ponds, and streams with good fishing like this lake has that are the exact reason why I wanted to buy a kayak. 3 Quote

It's a whole different speed and style of fishing. Much more quiet and reflective. I really enjoy it and I'm always surprised by the size of fish that live in small bodies of water that are inaccessible to big boats. 1 Quote

Yeah, my PB (8lbs) was from a pond I could cast across. 1 Quote

My 'yak and I have to move out of MA... What the bass here lack in size they make up for in numbers. This is the home of the Ned rig (and Ned Kehde), who strives to catch 101 bass in 4 hours in a trip, or 25 bass an hour. That is an attainable goal in some of the lakes in this area, but you might not catch a limit of fish over 15" or a single fish over 18" in all those fish. Quote
Yudo1 Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Man, I miss my yak! My pb was in my yak a month ago before my knee surgery. 7 1/2 lb. 1 Quote
