FishHard247 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 My pond boat is plastic. 12 foot but man o man, will she get down deep in a cove in a foot of water. Bad thing is all of the ponds are 8 to 12 feet deep and one is 18 but thats rare. Most areas are realistically 5-6 so at that depth the cone will be very small. Would structure scan be a waste? Like maybe a $400 hook model? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted May 17, 2016 Super User Posted May 17, 2016 For shallow water, the best brand and sonar technology is Humminbird Side Imaging. This is 200' of coverage in less than 4' depth: 2 Quote
FishHard247 Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 wow. Thats crazy. I just looked at all of the screen shots that you posted. Nuts! So Wayne would you suggest a "pond model"? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted May 17, 2016 Super User Posted May 17, 2016 Just pick the screen size that fits your budget. All the Side Imaging units do the same thing the same way. In current models there is the Helix 5 SI GPS, Helix 7 SI GPS, Helix 9 SI GPS, Helix 10 SI GPS, and Helix 12 CHIRP SI GPS. Then there is the top of the line ONIX 8 SI, ONIX 10 SI, ION 10 and ION 12. Bigger displays display stuff BIGGER There are about 20 discontinued models you may find new or used. Just look for SI in the model name. 1 Quote
