Eccs Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 My girlfriend and I often go fishing together and she's told me she wants to get a good quality setup in the $200 range( rod and reel ). She doesn't like baitcasters and prefere's spinning rods. She often fishes topwater, crankbaits and jigs. Was thinking a MH might be best as the lakes we fish in often have pretty good sized pike. Anybody have some insight on what rod to get and what action for this situation? Oh ya and she says she wants the rod to be Pink Quote

I've fished with it a little and it's a very nice rod. There's actually a 6' 6" ML/F Premier Pink in the St. Croix Bargain room right now for $100. I had bought her cheaper pink rods but they never fished very well so she gave up quickly. I figured I'd spend the money to make fishing more enjoyable to her and it would benefit me in the future if she was willing to stay out and fish longer. Quote
gobig Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 And here I thought you were going to trade your girlfriend for a quality set up. 7 Quote

Super User new2BC4bass Posted May 17, 2016 Super User Posted May 17, 2016 I'd look at the Pflueger President Limited Edition ( 1371148 ) 8/130 or the President 6930X...same line capacity. Great values. Just noticed the rod has to be pink so scratched my original recommendation on the rod. My daughter had the same requirement plus she wanted a shorter rod than is offered. I had DVT build me a 6' MHF for her on a pink blank. You might want to consider the same thing. Mike can help you pick the correct blank for a compromise fishing jigs and crankbaits. Quote
SMITTY0045 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 The Plueger lady President spinning reel is in pink. I would try to convince her to go with a white rod, I got that to work with my girlfriend as long as she got a "pretty" reel Quote
lakeannaangler Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Avid pearl or premier pink paired with a pflueger lady president Quote
blckshirt98 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Okuma SST Ladies Edition. Some Wal Marts in SoCal have the salmon/steelhead models marked down to like $19, though up here in NorCal they're full price. Your Wal-Mart mileage may vary. Also if you're at Wal Mart maybe check out the Wright & McGill Trait Crist combo. Quote
Eccs Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 Thanks for all the suggestions! I think we will go with the lady president reel and a white veritas rod. The st.croix avid seems like a really good rod and what she wants but I'm from canada so the exchange rate kills the deal. Quote

Don't know if shipping is free, but if it is that is a better price than what I could find on the auction site after a quick search. Quote
