Plain hook or Red hook

Question, 

What are your opinions on using a red hook as opposed to a plain hook, do they attract more fish? I can't see how they would make a difference especially in deeper depths. Interested in your opinions.

I have a big bunch of red hooks, Academy was out of regular hooks and had those on clearance, so why not ? cheaper and the same brand ( Gamakatsu ) ----> who cares. So far I haven´t found any evidence red hooks are better than regular hooks, but if you think red hooks ( or green or chartreuse or whatever color ) are going to help you catch more fish I´m going to be the first one to tell you that´s what you should use. Just be sure to purchase quality hooks.

I don't ever use red hooks I don't believe it matters I recently purchased a couple of baby minus ones and they came stock with red hooks? I changed them out right away. The red hooks were pretty popular a wile back they never worked for me.

All of the red hooks I've used, gammy or otherwise, the paint flakes off after some time. 

I may pick some up if they're that much cheaper than the standard color but I've never noticed a difference other than they stick out like a sore thumb in my tackle box.

I used red hooks before...still have most of 'em...

I vastly prefer the regular over red. Unless I'm in 
dire need of a specific hook that is only stocked 
in red at the moment I need it, I'll pass.

I picked up a 5 pack of red 4/0 ewg gammys a year ago and still have 3.

Makes no difference to me so long as they have a sharp point. If the color of the hooks on the bait you're throwing will make a difference in whether or not you get a hookup, you should probably just throw a different bait.

I like black chrome because they look the coolest to me, though I still buy the cheapest. If hook color is a factor it is one of the less important factor in fishing

Red hooks soon become gold hooks, once the red plating flakes off. Then they're a liability, as far as I'm concerned. Too visible.

I like red for one reason, when my dummy brother throws his hooks on my boat carpet, I can see them before I step on them.

I use red trebles fairly often. I feel like they get me a few more bites on slower moving baits like poppers and jerkbaits, which gives me confidence, and confidence catches fish.

I've got about a 50/50 between red and silver split on my spinnerbait trailer hooks and I haven't noticed anything that I would consider a difference.

Red hooks are better because red disappears (from the bass) at depth

Red hooks are better because the bass see the red as bleeding, thus easier dinner.

 

I've read both arguments....I suppose if you agree with either one, then you should be using red hooks....I use
