Buffdaddy54 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Very excited, just ordered a Okuma Citrix Spinning Rod and an Okuma Inspira reel in blue. CANT WAIT TO GET OUT AND TRY THEM! Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted May 16, 2016 Super User Posted May 16, 2016 Congrats. Happy for you. Be sure to give a review of both once you spend a little time with them. Don't see much about Okuma products here. Have to say I love my Helios Air casting reel, and seriously would love to have the 7' M Helios rod to go with it. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 16, 2016 Global Moderator Posted May 16, 2016 Okuma is probably the most underrated rod and reel dealer out there IMO. I own several of their rods and reels and have been very happy with all of them. 2 Quote
Yudo1 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Awesome, let us know how you like it. I've never owned any okuma stuff so I'm curious. Quote
Airman4754 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I have a Citrix casting rod I throw spy baits on and if I remember right it is an IM8 which is no slouch. It has considerably less power than the Helios of the same size, action, and power, but still an extremely good value for the price tag. Quote
edfitzvb Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I have an Okuma Serrano in my arsenal that is spooled with braid. I don't use it much, because I usually prefer lighter applications. I know that it got good reviews on Tackle Tour, but I don't know how reliable they are. This has a special coating to prevent corrosion which is a GOOD thing here on the coast Quote
Retired@176 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I have the Inspira ISX-20B on a Pinnacle Perfecta7 ML spooled with 24lb. Gliss, been my go to this spring very light smooth reeling and casting set up with absolutely no problems, hope you like it as much as I do Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted May 17, 2016 Super User Posted May 17, 2016 I have a Citrix travel rod that I like quite a good bit, it is a 4 part rod but still seems to have good sensitivity and is comfortable to cast all day. I also have two Okuma spinning reels I bought when I first got into fishing that have.....not had nice lives. But they both keep on trucking along and honestly I like them enough that when I buy reels that I know will not see a ton of use (surf casting, cat fishing) I don't even look at any other brands. Also, I live by the Chesapeake Bay and when I see charter boats docked up, most of the time they have a rack full of rods with Okuma reels. I suspect they hit the Inexpensive/Rugged/Smooth Casting balance very well. Quote
paleus Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 I have an Okuma Citrix Travel 4-piece spinning rod in ML and it is my favorite spinning rod that I own. I have an Okuma RTX reel on it, great combo, Quote

Super User fishwizzard Posted May 17, 2016 Super User Posted May 17, 2016 That is the same one I have, but I have only fished Ned rigs and 1/8oz inline spinners on it. It does both of those very well though. I have never tried out anything on the higher end. 1 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted May 17, 2016 Super User Posted May 17, 2016 I have an old Okuma V-System 200 casting reel, that is my heavy duty frog and flipping reel, it is 10 years old and has boat rash but works like a champ. I also have the older discontinued Inspira reel when they made it out of all aluminum, the reel is built like a tank but very smooth with the elliptical gearing, super nice drag, it is the 20 size and I use it with 6lb line for fishing hair jigs. Buffdaddy54 Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Just got my Rod and reel today? I cannot believe how light this set up is! Can't wait to get out and try them. Getting on MD DNR site right now to buy my license and trout stamp. I was hoping to get out Saturday but it's supposed to rain, we shall see. 1 Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted May 20, 2016 Super User Posted May 20, 2016 The fish are already wet dude, they don't care about rain, get out there! Quote
