I'm kind of a beginner angler and I have some experience with baitcasters, but I was wondering your opinion on getting the Shimano Caenan or the Lews Speed Spool?

It looks like your budget is around $100.  Of those 2  I'd get the Lew's,  but I'd rather get a tatula for under $100 on eBay.

Is this the new caenan or an older one?

At $100 the Tatula, Lew's or Supreme.  Can find a Tournament MB on the auction site for $109.  I am not at all familiar with the Citica, but from everything I've read, I'd add it to the list as well if you can find one at that price.  I do have a few older Shimanos and like many on here am a fan......tho not a fanboy.

Between those two I would go with the LFS. But like DVT said I would get a new citica I . If you shop around you can find them for around $100. And it's a better reel in my opinion.

It was just recently updated and seems to be a much nicer reel than the previous version.
