fishman393 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I had a post about getting my boat welded well it's time for the guy to weld my alumacraft thay I just got and he said they are known for cracking at the factory welds and I may think about going with a different boat. Has anyone ever heard this about them? It's a 2003 175 invader and has 3 factory welds thay have cracked and causing the hull to crack Quote
Super User J Francho Posted May 13, 2016 Super User Posted May 13, 2016 I've only ever heard of a Tracker failing at the weld. It was my friends boat, and he was pretty rough on it. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted May 13, 2016 Super User Posted May 13, 2016 First I've ever heard of it. Heard of cracked welds on Tracker and the Ranger aluminum. Cracked hulls on Tracker Ranger and Lowe. Cracked transoms on Xpress and Tracker. Potentially any hull is subject to cracks depending on what kind of stress it endures. Quote
fishman393 Posted May 14, 2016 Author Posted May 14, 2016 Thanks all. just a bit upset I just bought the boat from a guy and said no leaks I take it out and it leaks bad. Ripped the floor out cause the welder request so he can weld both sides of it. Of course I try calling the guy I got it from and low and behold no answer. So long story short I have replace every bit of wire ,live well ,switches and added my 999ci si hd. Lol the list goes on. Should be close to new internally when I'm done. Just hope the welds will hold up after he gets done with it. :/ Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted May 17, 2016 Super User Posted May 17, 2016 Guess you learned your lesson on why you should always test out a boat before buying it no matter how far it is to get it to water. It would be nice to be able to take everyone's word, but the way things are these days you just can't do that. 1 Quote
