I never get to actually handle rods so I just buy on what models I like, but I can't decide on a C-rig rod. I'll be throwing between 1/2 and 1oz steel with a bead, two swivels, and a big plastic.

I'm between 3:

Phenix UMBX 707H, Loomis GLX 875, Dobyns DX 784ML.

What would you guys recommend?

Not really qualified to answer your question as I don't own any of the rods you're asking about, but if you're open to another suggestion, the Falcon "Carolina Lizard Dragger" (if you can find one) it's made for what you want to do.

If you're going with the Dobyns route, the DX745 , the best jig rod in the lineup, would be a better bet than the 784 Mike Long version, which is a little more soft in the tip. Too soft, IMO, for a 1oz sinker on a Carolina Rig.

I often pull double-duty with my frog rods to work Carolina Rigs. They have the extra length, power, and use braided line, as well, so they make a good double-duty rod. Those are Dobyns Champs 735 and 736. I prefer the 5-power rods, personally.

I rig a lot...  like A LOT...   Lamiglas 735 blanks are great for the 1oz weight plus plastic as are the Dobyns 735 blanks.  If you are tossing a BIG plastic then something like the Phenix Recon 766 is great as well.  I got one of the closeout Lucky Craft Carolina rig rods this winter and have only just played with it, but WOW it's nice.

I have a Pro-X 735 that I use for frogs. I'd like something a little longer for rigs if possible.
