Depends on what I am throwing, it will usually include something to do with that bait.

Example: If throwing a Hoo Daddy, I tend to say "Who's Your Daddy"

My brother tends to do the same thing and was throwing my new jig in a Grasshopper color, this past Saturday. Couldn't tell you how many times I had to listen to him holler "GGRRRAASSSSSHOPPPPEERR" with some strange oriental twist to it (reminded me of a kung fu show that was on tv when I was a kid) ..........I was about ready to toss him out of the boat :)

If I'm by myself I don't say anything.  If I'm in a boat I usually say "There's a bite" and then after a successful hookset I say "There's a fish!". I even named my cell phone "There's a fish", so if someone scans for Bluetooth devices that's the device name that comes up. :D

Does grunting count?! B)

In all honesty, I'm usually just a "Got one!" type if I'm with someone. If I'm alone,  I just "oooo come here" repeatedly at it until I have it. Then it's usually an expletive or two.

I'm not sure what I say? I know I say something, especially in a tournament situation, so my partner knows there's a fish on.

My tourney partner never says anything. I just hear braided line straining through guides so that's how I know.

There's one.

I think... I'll pay closer attention next time I'm out. That's usually when I'm with someone. I don't say much of anything when I'm alone

I usually just say "fish". But when I'm fishing with my friend anytime someone does a big hookset we say "Thunder C*ck". I don't know where it came from but the first time he said it I laughed way too hard

I usually scream, "Holy *****, I actually got a fish!"

I kid, I kid... I'm not sure what I say if anything at all  this thread has made me become self-aware, so now I will start paying attention.

If it is truly a monster it is Holy ****! because those are the words that my lizard brain sends to my mouth, I am not in control. Generally it is nothing, but if I have someone with I will say of course get the net if needed, but that is well after the hookset.

I usually let out a "fish on" and after I have the hook in if it feels big I'll follow it up with a "oooh this is a nice one" with a few "stay on...stay on...stay on..."

Posted

"There's one" or "I got one" and then when the fish is about half way to the boat I sometimes say, but always think "Please stay hooked, please stay hooked, please stay hooked"

Since I am getting older my body seems to do the talking for me, depends on how hard I set the hook as to which part of my body does the talking...

Mostly, nothing! Unless I know its a Hawg and I say "get the net" since I have been fishing with saltwater sized trebles and don't want my partner bleeding like a stuffed pig later...lol.

Saltwater its all about the FISH ON!

I'm usually by myself and now that I think of it my dialogue is absolutely ridiculous haha...  More often than not I talk to the fish like I'm Chris Farley trying to get wings or something.
