So I'm trying to decide between a Dobyns DX 702SF and a St Croix Legend Elite ES610MLXF, I will be using this rod for some shakeyhead rigs, but more specifically drop shotting, I have heard great things about both, and can afford either, however, I noticed the Dobyns doesn't have the new torzite guides, and I want this rod to last a while. Please only help me between these two rods and not other manufacturers, thanks!

I'm a st Croix freak, so that one gets my vote.  Have a 69mlxf and a 610mlxf extended to 7' and another 610mlxf in the que to be built.  One has TiSic guides and one gad Torzite.   IMO, the Torzites aren't worth the extra money and I only used them just to see what they're all about.  Next rod will get the SiC.

I've got both rods and dropshot a ton. If just for DS the DX702 is the one. If shakyhead and DS the St Croix would be a better choice. The giudes on just about any $100+ rod will last a lifetime so not sure why you are worried about that.

I think it will be a dedicated dropshot rod. Ill be going the Dobyns route. Im also going with a tubes, light jig, wacky worm, and T rig rod, would a Dobyns 703 or the Legend Elite 7ft fast fit my needs better?

I am not a St Croix guy so I would pick the Dobyns Extreme in the 2 powered length of your choice. The new HP series, features Fuji guides and new blank with better feel over the previous generation rods. The Dobyns family members are very friendly and willing to help you pick the rod and will be there to assist with any warranty claim should you need it. St Croix has great warranty support for that matter to I just don't care for them.

They're both great rods.  Handle them if you can.  They both have excellent guides that will last a very, very long time regardless of your line choices.  To me, unless a rod is genuinely terrible (which pretty much doesn't happen with St Croix, Dobyns, Daiwa, Loomis, etc), it's hard to go wrong at the $200 and up price point.

Lastly, what about the Z Bone by Kistler? Saw them and fell in love, customized my ideal one and its sweet.

DX702 is a great DS stick. To be honest, I use a casting rod for all these presentations you listed, except maybe wacky worms (i.e. Flickshake). If you want to stay with Dobyns, the 742 or 743 would be the ticket. If you want to stick with a spinning rod, the St Croix LE med fast is an excellent choice.

This right here. I have a champion 702sf and an avid 6'9mlxf. The avid is more versitile no my opinion. Both excellent rods
