Vlad Val Yevdash Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I'm thinking about picking up 2 fenwick hmgs from ffo tackle. Are they good rods for $58.88? Any of you guys had experience with them, I plan on getting one for crank baits and one for trigs and pairing them up with inceptions. Quote
I.rar Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 They have some smallmouth models available that would probably work for you. Amazing rods at retail and even better at ffo prices. I believe they have a coupon on their homepage as well. 1 Quote
IDUTBass Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I have abeen HMG spinning rod that I really like. I got mine for 65 and definitely feel it was worth it. 58 makes it even better! Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted May 7, 2016 Super User Posted May 7, 2016 They are good rods at the full price. Just ordered the GT72MFCB yesterday. Third rod I've bought from them. One went to my son-in-law. He loves it. Course it is the best rod he has ever had so....... I've got 3 or 4 of the HMGs. Good values. I think you will be pleased. I take it you are looking at the GT73MHF as one of them? Fenwick's Aetos and Smallmouth rods are also great rods for the money. Love my Smallmouth 6'10" MH-MF, 6'10" MF and 6'9" M-XF rods. 1 Quote

aprilbass101 Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Great price at $58.88! You won't be disappointed at all ! I have a 7' M/F spinning & this rod has been abused for years! It's a good all around rod & covers a lot of applications for 1/8"-3/4" rating. She'll be abused for several more 1 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted June 17, 2016 Super User Posted June 17, 2016 Anybody have that 7'3" MHF casting model of the HMG that is still available at FFO? It's rated 3/8oz to 1 1/4oz, which i'm curious about -- anybody know how it handles baits at the higher end of that range? And would it do well as a frog rod? Only a few left and I can't stand it any more. Quote
jhc1 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I wish they had the Aetos or ET Smallmouth in spinning. Heartbraking that they don't. Quote

Paid $89 for my HMG and like it a lot (7' M moderate fast action). Very nice rod. At $58? I'd LOVE it. I'm looking at the FFO website right now and thinking about buying another. Quote

If you aren't aware already, you should know most of their items are discontinued models. Still, I've bought 3 rods and two reels from them in the last year and couldn't be happier....scratch that; possibly I could be happier if I got another. Oh, and it's 20% off over $40 right now....like I said above, I can't stand it anymore. 1 Quote
trick worms Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I have a 7 medium hmg and like it a lot. Really comfy handle 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted June 17, 2016 Super User Posted June 17, 2016 Wanted to add that I've always ordered a single rod at one time. Had to pay shipping. This is for the $58.88 rods. Last rod I ordered was $75 and shipping was free. I didn't notice there being a special so I'm assuming there is a price point at which free shipping kicks in. So shipping should be free if you order 2 HMG rods. 4 hours ago, MIbassyaker said: The first time somebody on this forum tipped me off to FFO, I felt like I was being let in on a secret. Can't have too many rods............................or reels. Quote

Is that 7'3" MHF HMG one of the ones you have? Wondering how it would be as a frog rod... Quote

No. Sorry. You should give it a try. Let us know if it will work. Maybe I should pick one up myself before they run out of that model. Quote
damian19s Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I love my HMG. I have a 7' M/F and paired with my Shimano Ci4+ 2500FA and it's the best finesse setup ever. Quote
