Core 50mg7 doesnt handle 3/4oz KVD spinnerbait very well basically a chore to wind it in. My CI4 with higher ipt actually does a better job less effort involved.

I have used my 50 size reel for spinnerbaits and crankbaits for the past couple years with out any noticed wear.  I use it primary on my cranking rod because I will through anything  from 1/4 to 5/8 weight cranks with out any issues at all.

The 50 size reels will easily handle those baits. I think their suitability for casting light baits is more of a happy coincidence than intentions for Shimano. The insides are pretty much the same as the 200 just packed into a smaller space.

Exactly what I'd say. :)
