Good evening everybody. Just getting back into fishing after 5 or so years.  I live in Howard County Maryland  I am a Redskins fan and a Capitals fan so I am used to disappointment. I do most of my fishing at local ponds and lakes.I am a bank fisherman, not by choice but necessity. My current rig is a Pflueger spinning reel paired with an ugly stick. I had a Basspro Pro Qualifier baitcaster but never really learned how to use it so I sold it years ago. I have never had any success with soft plastic worms but am anxious to learn. I have had success with Senkos and spinners but that's about it. Looking forward to learning.

Welcome to BR.

Another Skins fan here, buck up its all coming together and just like you returning to fishing, things will get better soon.

Senkos are a plastic worm basically so you have in a sense already found success, come visit us in the southeast section below, there are a ton of guys and gals that can help you out with areas you fish and want to fish.

Thanks for the welcome! I agree that with the Skins it is coming together, GM seems to finally have them going in the right direction.

Buff daddy 54 you haven't replied to my few questions and I don't have a clue to your skill level or tackle preferences.

2016 - 45 years puts you into 1971 the beginning of origanized tournament bass fishing.

Soft plastics like Mann's Jelly worms were just becoming popular. Anglers trolled a lot back then because fresh water sonar units were new to most bass anglers. Seasonal periods were mostly unknown, they weren't acknowledge until the mid 70's. Spinning tackle was popular with trout anglers, finesse bass fishing hadn't started yet.

The 2 popular bass rods &creels were baitcasting Ambassador 500 red reel with 5'6" hollow glass rods like Eagle Claw. The other was spin cast reels on the same rods. I don't know anyone who uses that tackle today.

Thanks for the welcome. I did not see any of your questions, I'm sorry. As far as tackle goes I am currently using a Pflueger Trion spinning real and an 6 foot ugly stick. I am looking to upgrade to a Pflueger Supreme or President XL some time in the next few weeks. I want to upgrade my rod also but have absolutely no idea what to look at. All I know is I need to keep it under 100 bucks, preferably under 75.

As far as other tackle I like the Senkos as they seem to be the only thing I catch any fish on. I also like Mepps spinners. I have never tried Crank baits, no success what so ever with top water, and never tried frogs but want to learn.
