Any of you guys use color depth finders or at least know if they make a difference from the normal.  Lookin into buyin a new one soon and was wondering if color is worth the price

Yes they make a difference, worth the price weeelll...  Right now you're still going to pay a decent price for that color screen.  If you're going to get color, look into the lowrance X102c.  Otherwise, there is no reason to spend more than their X135 or even their Eagle Fishmark 480 unless you're drop shotting.  The 500c doesn't have that impressive of a screen and is only 1500 watts and no flasher, basically twice the price of the 480 just for a lower pixel color screen.  The 480 at 1,500 watts will pick up a 1/4 oz jig in 20 ft of water easily.

With color, red indicates a harder return just as a darker line does with black and white.  If you want GPS, look into the Lowrance LMS 332c.

I have a Garmin 250c depthfinder interphased with a Garmin 2006c Chartplotter. It's great!! You can see color much better in the sun light. I just installed a Garmin 178c on the bow of my boat, to use with my trolling motor. It is a GPS/Depthfinder combo. What a tool when fishing drops or following old road beds, ditches or what ever. I was on a site that compared the different products and Garmin was rated very high. What ever brand you choose make sure it's color if you can afford to. It's much easier to see. If you can not afford color get a good unit & tape a visor ( piece of cardboard or anything like that) on the top to shade the screen, it will be easier to see.
