Maybe this should be in "everything else", but I figure it will be moved by an admin if need be.

I lost a very good friend yesterday, he was a sophomore in Engineering and the president of the University of Illinois fishing club. We are going to frame his jersey and add a small plaque at the bottom. We are debating what to put on the plaque, either something simple, like "gone but not forgotten", or something fishing related. I'm a fan of "gone fishin," it's short and sweet.

Does anyone have any ideas of something I could put?

Sorry to hear about your friend. I love "gone fishin'" as long as his family was ok with it.

Sorry for you loss. I'm not sure these are worthy of the context; but my grandfather had a few sayings that always made me smile. They still do every time I think of him.

God doesn't  remove from a mans life the days he spends fishing

The best time to fish; is when you get a chance.

Sorry for your loss, we went with "gone fishin' " on my dad's headstone. It was my favorite.

Sorry to hear about your friend.  He didn't work in the physics lab, did he?  Maybe you could put "Gone Fission"

I lost a fishing buddy of 30 years and there is not a trip I don't think about Tom.  He always said," A bad day fishing, is better then a good day at work."   The funny thing was, Tom was my boss!

There are a ton of fishing quotes out there, but for a fisherman's grave none exceed the beauty and simplicity of "gone fishin'."

If I am ever somehow obligated to attach my wife's actual fishing philosophy to her headstone, this quote by Dave Barry definitely sums it up:

"Fishing is boring, unless you catch an actual fish, and then it is disgusting."

Obviously, I never take her fishing.  Regardless, I'll be really ticked if she dies before I do. And if, as I am hoping, I go first, she can, if she chooses, put "gone fishin'" on my grave.  But if instead she puts the Barry quote on my grave, I'll kill her.

Funnily enough, I work in a physics lab!

Thanks for the quotes guys, it'll have to be a decision made amongst the club members but I'll pass the quotes on.

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
