AustinBollinger Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Hey, I was wondering what to do when you want to start fishing tournaments. I'm 19 and live in Missouri. My dad, and two of my uncles also fish in tournaments. I'm just wanting to get an idea of how to get started at such a young age. I don't have a boat unfortunately. Thanks for the help! Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 4, 2016 Global Moderator Posted May 4, 2016 I started at 16 in a bass club. I'd suggest going that route since it's pretty inexpensive and gets you an idea if you'll like it or not. Quote
bassman dan Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Ive been fishing tournaments for a few years now. You can see if there are some local clubs around you and fish as a rider (co angler). You can also look into the FLW BFL's. You can register as a co which is a great way to learn different styles of fishing and make some connections which is the biggest thing in bass fishing. Let me know if you have any other questions. I can try to help you out Quote
SDoolittle Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Welcome to BR, Austin! I believe the first thing I'd do is talk to your dad and your uncles about it. I'm looking forward to the day when my son asks me about tournament fishing. 2 Quote
