I'm looking for a new baitcaster. I mainly use heavier spinners, medium cranks, and topwaters with them. Right now I'm looking at the Shimano Caenen 100  (6.5:1),  Quantum Accurist PT (6.3:1),  and the Pflueger Supreme Low Profile (6.4:1). Also. Maybe tye Abu Garcia Ambassedeur, but I don't know anything about these. Which model would you suggest if you like these? Which of these do you prefer, and are there any better options in this price range and gear range that you would suggest?

Thanks in advance everybody

I have one of the new Caenens, it's been a fine reel for jerkbaits and topwater so far.

I've been using an Okuma Cerros 273V for a couple years now for flipping vegetation with braid. I'd highly suggest taking a look at one of those as well in your price range.

You know I just don't know how I'm gonna get it to them or how the money will be exchanged and shipping and all so I have it on craigslist so I can just meet up with the buyer?

Out of the ones you listed, Pflueger supreme. You can also get the Supreme XT on a certain outlet site for less than $100. Its recon but for that price thats a steal

I've bought a few thousand dollars worth of air guns and fishing gear over the past 15 years using mostly Postal Money Orders.  Couldn't be easier.  Usually people on craigslist don't want to pay more than 30% of an items true value unless you get lucky and someone with knowledge catches your ad.  Actually free is better for them.  :D

Carolinaboy, could you give me a link to that site selling the Plueger?

Right now I've rulled out the Ambassadeur and am mainly considering the Accurist and the Pflueger. If anybod has any reviews about either of these, or would suggest one over the other, you're welcome to speak up. I'm still open to suggestions about other reels, too.

I'm hearing good things about the Academy reels. They have a lot of choices under $100. Compare the features to the brand names and I think you'll recognize the value.

I have a Lew's LFS Tournament MB that I can't seem to make backlash. The base LFS reel has most of the same features for $99.

I appreciate it Carolina boy, but that particular reel they have is geared too high for my taste. They do however have some reconditioned C4 Ambassadeurs in 6.3:1, so I'm considering those again. What do you guys suggest for crankbaits, spinners, and topwaters? 4600 or 5601?

I kind of like smaller.  I have a Black Max 1600C I use for some of those techniques.

I'm not a round reel fan except for my swimbait set ups. But if you like round reels for those techniques then the C4 amb. is a good choice. Honestly the size reel depends on what type of cranking your going to be doing. If your just going to be doing shallow to mid depth cranking go with the 4600 in my opinion. Its lighter but still has the capacity required for that. The 4600 would also fit good with topwater and the same depth question would apply to spinnerbaits. If your not one of those guys that fishes deep offshore ledges and structure no need to get the larger reel in my opinion. Again this is just my view.

Smaller is usually better. Go with the smallest reel you can for the application you are going to use it for. It may not seem like much but the weight of a bigger reel will play out over an entire day of chucking baits.
