Have any of you taken the plunge? I'm a Windows 7 Pro user and absolutely despise Windows 8.

Is 10 more like 8 or 7? I'm getting prompted for the free update and I'm sure 7 will go the way of XP sooner or later.

Any problems with 10 users? Did anybody moving from 7 to 10 notice any huge differences?

I'm no computer expert. But I'll say I dislike it immensely. So much so that my next computer will be an Apple. My computer slowed and I can't find fecal matter! My photoshop worked before the "upgrade", now it hardly works at all.

Windows 10 is much, much better than 8, but I'd still go the Mac route if I was buying a new computer. If you like seven, you'll probably like ten.

I just went from 7 pro to 10.  Took me a couple of tries....had to disable firewall, virus software, any kind of blockers.  So far so good.. Not too different than 7.  All files, apps, peripherals transferred ok.  They do allow you 30 days to revert to your old system though.

I haven't tried their new browser, Edge.   I'm just a Firefox kind of guy.

I got a new computer with windows 10 about 7 weeks ago.  Before that my trusty ole HP comact was so old it was running vista.  it was still working but was slower than frozen poop so I bought a new hp.   I must say, I like the windows 10 features.  Using apps is very cool.  the new browser windows edge is, I think still a little glitchy, but that should smooth out with updates.  And Cortana is a very cool feature.   I think it's a winner.

I hated 8 with a passion as well and have delayed doing this upgrade to 10 also. It always bothered me when a company would charge you hundreds of dollars for something and then its "free".

I own my other versions of windows for all normal purposes anyway. But you dont have squat if Windows 10 says do this guess what, like it or not, its not yours. And what happens later is what I also wonder how they plan to recoup this money. After everyone is stuck with 10 do they start charging for upgrades or patches/fixes etc? Is your operating system full of advertisements? Maybe none of this happens but it reeks of a scam.

Oh well guess I will be like the rest of the sheep.

Been building computers for over 20 years and IMHO Windows 10 is solid.  Viva La Start Menu!

Same here first PC I built using a just released 300mhz Cyrix chip and a top of the line(retail speaking) 6GB hard drive. Talk about a problem child of a PC. A non dividable bus speed chip :D with motherboards at the time.

But I have seen more than a few having issues with 10. Not saying your wrong but I do know of some having issues.

Driver issues that mostly should be resolved with updates but none the less if you use your printer brand X model and there are no drivers its really a mess if its for your business needs. Some people dont want to buy a new printer because of a "free" operating system. Same goes for those who use higher end graphics cards with games such as BF4 that all of a sudden cause some serious game issues.

I wont disagree that most issues will be resolved if all of your hardware is recent. The issues arise for those of us who have perfectly good running hardware that doesn't ever seem to get the updates because of the select market you may be in or the fact its over 2yrs old, and they don't give a hoot about the less than 2% ever working.

Me personally I have friends who have thousands of dollars invested in some Gerber plotters that to this day will only run on XP or older windows operating systems.

I bought a new laptop last year, with 10, except fro Edge, which is very "buggy", it's been solid. I h ave several friends who've had problems upgrading from 7.. On a new system,  it's pretty good.

I went from 8.1 to 10 on one computer and 7 to 10 on another. Both crashed within a week (have NEVER had a computer crash before) and had to be fully restored. The 7 never came out of it and needed a full windows re-install... It was on its last leg anyways so I went ahead and upgraded to a new computer with windows 10 already installed. No problems yet! The 8.1 was restored and works fine again.

I never upgrade.  I get a new OS when I get a new computer.  By that time all of the bugs are usually worked out of it.

HEY! HEY!....lol....actually I got used to it pretty quickly. I've built over a 100 computers, but when I quit XP was the operating system of the day. I just hung out there until my computer died.

I bought my in-laws a Dell all-in-one with W10.  My in-laws are in their late 70s and I find W10 simple enough for them to surf the web and Skype with family members back 'in the old country'.

I drank the Apple Kool-Aid about 10 years ago, and while not perfect, I find it's still better than the last three Microsoft operating systems.  I still run XP on my Mac through Parallels.  Like other members, I don't upgrade/update my OS.
