Like my Tats.  A Lew's Tournament MB is on its way.  Just under $109 on fleabay.  The MB gets very god reviews, but it will be my first.  Not first Lew's, first MB.

If you're idea of flipping is pulling line with free hand to raise and lower the bait into pockets Tatulas TWS can create a issue. Otherwise it's great at the price point you're looking at.

Good to know! Is it the TWS system coming off the spool that causes issue?

You should be able to find a Daiwa tatula below retail online. Great reel

Hands down best reel in the price range under $200 IMO

No. When the reel is in the retrieve mode, pulling the line can/could (depending on hand position pull the line out of the guide and up over the lip of the opening. I noticed this and stopped using it for flipping. Ask 20 different people what flipping is and they'll give you 20 different techniques. I'll probably get blasted by someone in a few minutes lol

Flipping is really only one thing, and I can see where the real thing might cause a problem, unless you use a rod with a stripping guide close to the reel.

Anyway, I'd be looking for a great condition E7 Curado on the flaw market for this. Solid and reliable.

Trust me I know being from Florida, some people do funky antics when flipping.  Most people are pitching and calling it flipping most of the time anyway, it seems the term is interchangeable now.

My swim jig, chatterbait, square bill, and frog setups all have MB's on them and they have been bullet proof. I have from the Pro Magnesium to the MB and they've all been flawless.

Pic is terrible but you see where the line is supposed to be coming through the narrowing opening. It's not. It's up over the side. That's all I'm referencing by pulling the line with you're free hand. Maybe using big line like 25lb FC or Mono it's less likely to make it up and over. ??? I my self ain't risking a malfunction and break off. Lol

Actually that's its intended purpose of TWS.

We're talking about FLIPPING.  Flipping and pitching are not interchangeable terms.  The spool is always engaged during a flip.  When you pull line from between the stripper guide and the reel, it can become dislodged from the narrow section of the TWS wing. That can't be good on a hookset...

Agreed, not good to truly flip without the TWS engaged, recipe with disaster especially with fluorocarbon and pinch at edge of line guide.

OFF TOPIC

However, most people even seasoned bass fishermen say they are flipping when they are actually pitching.  Very rarely do I see anyone flip anymore, since they engage spool and do "mini-pitches"   However, when you ask the latest winner of a FLW or BFL tournament down here (hint,hint......)  they say they were  "flipping".   So yes I they are different techniques, but when it comes to "dock talk" when someone says they flipped all day or were on a flipping bite it doesn't necessarily mean they were using a flipping technique, they were most likely pitching most of the time with the occasional flip here and there.

Exactly line will be at 2 90 degree angles. Thanks J

the shimano casitas , i bought a few for workhorses and for times i don't want to take out my higher end stuff and man , i'm loving them. don't buy into the hype from the composite frame haters , the reel is rock solid and for the money it's awesome.

Curious, does it flex under load?

Wish I looked on the fleabay before I bought my Lews MB for full retail of $140. Its a great real. I don't know which real I like better, the Lews tour. MB or the Tatula. I love them both. My next Tatula will come from the auction site since I see them all the time new for $100

You couldn't find it for $109 or didn't want to wait?  Mine shipped from Sportsman's Outfitters and was waiting for me yesterday when I got home from work.  Nice looking reel.  Not sure yet what line to put on it or which rod to try it on first.

I don't understand why anyone would choose the casitas over the citica which you can find for the same price. I got my citica for 107 on ebay, and now I wish I wouldn't have payed 125 for my curado because it's the same reel.

Have you used the citica or curado I? Do you think the casitas is better for the price?

No, I was in my local sporting goods store and was handling it and liked it, so I bought it without shopping around..oh well

I agree, the Citica is a better reel for the money
