You_Only_Live_Once_Fishing Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 what is the best reel that i can use for frogging, punching, and flippin? thanks Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted April 29, 2016 Super User Posted April 29, 2016 Shimano Casitas, Shimano Citica, Daiwa Tatula, Lew's Speed Spool, Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier. I would go with the Citica, unless you need a slow gear ratio, in which case go with the Tatula, or the BPS PQ, which isn't quite as good as the Tatula. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 29, 2016 Super User Posted April 29, 2016 The Bass Pro PQ is a nice reel especially when you can find it on sale. Their JM signature series is on sale for 139 right now though and those are built like tanks. They might be slightly heavier but they are great reels. Quote
Evan K Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I'll do you a favor. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281926510153?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Tatula Type R, $200 MSRP, for $137. 8.1:1, perfect for flipping/pitching/frogging. Already bought one myself and love it. Got mine for $120. 1 Quote
Surfcaster Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I own a BPS Johnny Morris signature baitcast reel and a Daiwa Tatula. I fish in club tournaments and these reels perform flawlessly. They are better reels than I am a caster. I can only imagine how they would do in the hands of a professional. I also have a Pro Qualifier and 2 older ABU Ambassadeurs. They work great but are not quite on the level of the JM or Tatula. 1 Quote
JigMaster4 Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I would pick up a lews tournament MB on ebay for $100-$110. 2 Quote
Mr Swim Jig Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Lots of great reels mentioned, but I would take a look at the Pinnacle Optimus LTE, the Daiwa Tatula Type-R is the reel I use and you can occasionally find them at a great price as Evan K posted Quote

Nice reel. Only Pinnacle reel I have tried is the Primmus and feel it is a wonderful reel. May have to give one of the Optimus series a shot. Quote
