Well I went ahead and got an order of Tatsu for my spinning reel on the way. I'll give it one more try. I keep upping the quality of flouro I try, and from what I hear, Tatsu is the top of the class. So we'll see. I hope it doesn't break my heart.

I use 6 lb Tatsu on my spinning gear and I really like it.  I use it on a shallow spool JDM shimano spinning reel to maximize line capacity while taking advantage of the shallow spool's castability.

I also took advantage of a winter time sale to get significant savings.

Shallow or deep makes no difference on spinning gear, if the spool is filled properly.  All a shallow spool does is eliminate the need for a backer and the annoying connection knot.

Since this will be on my exclusively finesse rig (mostly senkos, spybaits, and Ned Rigs), I went with 6lb test. I went with 8lb on my attempt at Sunline Sniper and I think maybe the slightly thicker diameter contributed to the wiry feel the line had, so I went with 6 this time.

I also love the stuff and started using it a long time ago. Right now it and Sniper is all I'm running in fluro.

I got my spool yesterday and went out today and used the 2 rigs I lined up. This stuff is amazing. By far the best fluoro I have used period. The increase in casting distance is very noticeable. The smoothness of the cast is something I did not expect, but the line casts so much smoother than what I have used before. After using it, I can say the price will not be an issue. I will be buying more to spool up some of my other reels.

I spooled it up and immediately noticed that even sort of hanging on the rod with nothing tied on, the line doesn't coil like others I've used. It seems to behave more like the YZH or McCoy Mean Green copoly I've used. I'm hoping this is a good sign. I casted out with a 1/2oz weight then walked off about 30 yards more and taped the spool, a lot like I did with my casting reels when I first started out. Hopefully that'll keep blowups to a minimum, IF I get any. Fingers crossed!

Ive held off on tatsu for a long time. Wish I wouldn't have read this... thought I'd settled with sniper or trilene 100%.

Like you I always wrote Flouro off for the same reasons, but I never actually used it. I just witnessed the problems regularly with other anglers I was fishing with. This year I broke down, bought another core 51mg7 and some Tatsu, I haven't had a chance to try it yet. My primary fishing ground for bass doesn't open until May 7th this year but I did do some minor testing in the yard and I haven't seen any issues with it that I've seen in the past, it didn't come off in circular ropes, like I've seen in the past. I also had no issue tying, or clinching the knot either. I hope, oh do I hope that this works out for me. 10lb Tatsu for me.

Does anyone have any advice on whether to use this on a spinning reel? I'm giving it some thought, but I am still wary since I've been burned before with flouro on a spinning rig - my try of Sniper went south very fast

My recommendation is #8.  I spool backing so that the Tatsu accounts for approximately 75 yards or so.

If you were thinking about trying it, now would be a great time!
