Robert Riley Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I'm tired of forgetting sunscreen, so I'm most likely going to order one from dobyns the next time I make a rod order.
Basseditor Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I use face protection (Simms), sun sleeves, and sun gloves.
Turkey sandwich Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I typically just rock a bandana over my face/neck. That said, I'm also the palest dude ever and my ears get awfully sunburnt. I'm pretty sure I'll be ordering one by this summer.

Wbeadlescomb Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I think they are about the dumbest dang thing I've ever seen 1

I always have one on to protect from the sun, cold or wind. In extreme summer I dip mine in cold water and wear it. Helps keep you cool 3

It's buff brand I'm not sure what style it is though, ok. It's a buff uvx balaclava. Had to look it up 1
Scarborough817 Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 it's much easier than sunscreen plus if i want to cool off i throw it in the water and put it back on Edit: forgot a picture

Super User webertime Posted April 30, 2016 Super User Posted April 30, 2016 Grow a beard, then wear it around your neck. Or grow a neck beard... 4
basscatcher8 Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I use to think they were goofy but I finally got tired of burning the back of my neck so I had Rayjus make me one. It's turned into the best thing for fishing I've ever bought. I don't have any pictures. I got one of their stock designs with ranger merc and minnkota logos on it.
Jaderose Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I must be Old School. I throw on a ratty old pair of cut-offs, a sleeveless t-shirt, a filthy old ball cap, and a pair of Birkenstocks. Slather up with sunscreen, put on a pair of thin mechanics gloves to keep the sunscreen off my baits and the fish and I roll. I'd look ridiculous in these things. Like a bratwurst in a tube sock 1
Murrica Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 The last 3 years I have always worn a long sleeve, buff, hat and sun gloves. The problem with sunscreen is it can wear off in as little as 4 hours and you have to re apply it. I would rather enjoy the outdoors the rest of my life even if I look goofy then have to have holes cut in me to remove the Big C. 2
mojojojo Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I dont. I think they are the stupidest trend in fishing right now. I guarantee you that almost all guys who wear them only do it because they think it looks cool, not because of "skin protection" lol...ya right. Funny how these guys will be out in shorts and short sleeve shirts but have one of these dumb buff things wrapped around their face. If its hot and sunny, I just wear a long sleeve shirt and use a bandana around my neck that I will dip in wear to keep cool.
Super User Gundog Posted April 30, 2016 Super User Posted April 30, 2016 I don't have any buffs but am planning on buying the head, sleeves, and gloves. A friend of mine who is in his early 30's just got diagnosed with skin cancer. He told me to protect myself with sunscreen, long sleeved shirt and hat when ever I can. I'm sure we all have been on the water when the sky was cloudy and then the sun comes out and it gets really hot. Better safe than sorry. Personally I don't care how I look when I'm fishing. As far as other peoples reasons for wearing buffs, if you do it to look cool I'm ok with that. If you do it to protect yourself from skin cancer I'm ok with that too.

I don't think so. 2
blckshirt98 Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Anyone that knows anything about the effects that UV rays have on human skin, doesn't mess around when it comes to UV protection. I'll wear a pink buff with Hello Kitty logos all over it if that's all I had to protect my skin from UV rays. 3

If its hot and sunny, I just wear a long sleeve shirt and use a bandana around my neck that I will dip in wear to keep cool. Anyone that knows me knows I'm super into the trendy fashion and doing what looks cool I also love ignorant blanket statements. I know several guys who have had to have chunks cut out of them to remove skin cancer (one that missing most of his ear now, which is a great look). I wear contacts and if you do, you know what it's like to get sunblock infused sweat into your eyes during the heat of the summer, nothing like blurry vision for the rest of the day. Getting sunblock into every part of your ears, around your eyes, nose, and mouth, in your hair not covered by a hat, it's almost impossible. Or I could put one of these things on and be covered. That combined with a sun shirt and now a pair of sun gloves, all I have to sunblock is my legs, which are easy to get completely covered with sunblock. I don't dress to impress anyone on the water, anyone that's seen me with my holy sweatpants tucked into my camo Muck boots wearing a dirty hoodie when it's colder outside knows this. 8
