lmobass22 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Trying to figure out what color red eye shad to imitate the forage in my area. I live in MN If you have any red eye shad colors that worked well for you please let me know Thanks Quote
wiel0059 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I've fished MN & WI a lot since I've lived in either my entire life. Thrown the Red Eye a ton as well. Sexy Shad works good almost anywhere, under the right conditions. Perch has been my personal best, but I fish a lot of lakes where Perch is the main forage, especially for Smallmouth. This is very common across MN / WI. One thing to pay attention to is what they are spitting up on the way to the boat, this can really help clue you in. Quote
BassThumb Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Honestly, it's hard to go wrong with anything resembling bluegill or perch around here, in general, for any moving bait. Quote
Hawkeye21 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I really like to use the Orange Craw color. I'm in Iowa but fish in MN every year. I've caught lots of small mouth, large mouth and walleye with it. 1 Quote

I have never been a guy who thinks color is all that important but that Red Eye Shad bait in Orange Craw has been the absolute best for me. 1 Quote

Color can very important. Just yesterday I was fishing in a bass tourney with my brother-in-law and we were both using square billed crank baits. I was using the chartreuse/black back color and he was trying a couple different colors. He got skunked and I caught 6. Quote
