RichF Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Anybody else notice that half of the Nitro Z-7s they use in MLF competitions aren't actually Z-7s at all? What's up with that? 1 Quote
sprint61 Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 I have noticed a basscat and phoneix in the mix. Quote

What's up with that? They now have the option to use a boat and upgrades that are within specs, so they can fish in their sponsors boats. I believe they still have to be under 20' and with a motor no bigger than 150. Still has to be wrapped by MLF though. The last Ike event I watched Marty said "Ike is running all over the place in his BassCat" Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 25, 2016 Super User Posted April 25, 2016 I liked it when they were all "spec" boats, but I guess that might get expensive for the series boat sponsor. 1 Quote
RichF Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 I'm surprised they don't blur out the Phoenix, or Bass Cat logos on the boat decks like they do with the anglers' non-Huk branded clothing. 2 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 25, 2016 Super User Posted April 25, 2016 I imagine that depends on each sponsors' individual agreement with MLF. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I thought they'd always been a split between Nitros and Bass Cats? Quote
nhpleasantlakebass Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I would also imagine someone like Ike has a sponsor deal with basscat and he is most likely not allowed to fish in a televised tourney not being in a basscat due to a contract agreement? so mlf decides have a big name like Ike or only allow nitro? basscatcher8 Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Basscats have been in the mix since the beginning. I think they started out using the Margay Quote
