Pond Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 I'm looking for a reel that can cast lighter squarebills. What are some good options from Daiwa or shimano? Quote
lakeannaangler Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I have used a shimano curado 51e for that and it worked very well Quote
Wbeadlescomb Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 If you have an academy sports in your area you will not go wrong with the h20 express mettle reel. I've sold most of my higher end baitcasters and went to these reels Quote
BassThumb Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 How about a 6.3 ratio Shimano Citica with upgraded spool bearings from HP Bearings. This will give you excellent value and performance. The bearing upgrade will help with those lighter baits, especially if you keep them clean and lightly oiled. You don't need to spend a ton on a reaction-bait reel. You're just chunking and winding. You could even go cheaper than that, but get the bearings. Quote
mwh33 Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I use a Tatula type R 6.3:1 ratio for my squarebills. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 26, 2016 Global Moderator Posted April 26, 2016 I use either a 200B Curado or 200E5 Curado. Quote
clh121787 Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Either a 7.1 curadoI or a 50e 6.4.1 both on 843 imx/e6x Quote
CarolinaBoy4Life Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I use a lower ratio Pro Qualifier for both square bills and shallow running crankbaits Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 For what you're doing a properly setup reel is more important than any particular model and must be matched to an appropriate Rod. 3 Quote
