07zx6r Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 I just sold my tracker 175 a few months ago with the idea of upgrading in the future. Well, I miss being out in the water and Im ready to get another boat. I have narrowed it down to 2 boats and need some input. Both are 2008's with low hours, similar condition, service records, similar electronics, both have 24v trolling motors, virtually the same price, etc, etc.. The first boat is an 08 Nitro Z7 with Merc 150 Opti. The other boat is an 08 Xpress X19 with Etech 200 HO...Obviously the big difference is tin vs glass.. I fish alot in the Cumberland River which makes me lean towards the x19 just because of stumps and floating debris.. But I also fish a good bit in Kentucky Lake, which would favor more the Z7.. One thing that I have to consider is resale value. Im in the military, so with moving around every few years, I have to be prepared to sell just in case my next location isnt exactly fishing friendly. So resale is pretty important. With all that said, which boat would make the most since? Thanks for the help. Quote
Super User Further North Posted April 24, 2016 Super User Posted April 24, 2016 This is just me...but as soon as a river enters the picture, or rocky lakes like we have around here...I start to lean heavily towards aluminum boats. That opinion is changing slowly, over time, but I'm still not there yet...mostly because I can't get behind the "better ride in glass" position for a fishing boat...I fish at least 10x the amount of time I'm running the boat and I like my tin boat up here in places where big rocks that come out of nowhere are common. I don't thnk you'd have any problem selling an Xpress in that area. Quote
07zx6r Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 Thanks for the feedback.. I really like the idea of the xpress.. and the fact that the 200 HO is the max hp for the x19 which is nice. Quote
