Wyoming762 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I live in Wyoming right now and really only fish trout from creeks. I use nearly exclusively Panther Martin spinners for my fishing because I like them and do very well with them, and they're just what I'm used to. However, I'd like to make a fishing trip down South so I'm wondering what you guys here think about them and if you'd recommend them for bass, or if you think I'd likely be better off use a different type of lure. And if anybody has anything to say about how they do with other freshwater fish common to the South such as perch I'd appreciate any input your willing to spare there as well. Thanks in advance. Super User Raul Posted April 22, 2016 Super User Posted April 22, 2016 I´ve used in-line spinners to catch bass for more than 3 decades, not specifically Panther Martins because I don´t like them but Mepps and Blue Fox ---> oh yeah. If you are going to fish for bass with them use the larger 4 - 5 size ones, not that you won´t catch with sizes 0-3, the only problem with baits that small is that they catch dinks by the truckload. Oklahoma Mike Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Been catching bass on rooster tails forever. In fact, it is my old stand by for when the bite is slow. My favorite is the old Terminator titaniums... Those things were indestructible. Not sure why they quit making them. Quote

I suspect because they are under the Rapala umbrella and there was overlap of some things. They still have this one: http://www.rapala.com/terminator/in-line-spinners/snagless-in-line-spinner/snagless-in-line-spinner/Snagless+In-line+Spinner.html?brandname=Terminator&id=7 Inline spinners were probably the first artificial I ever caught a bass on using the old Zebco 33. And probably the first crappie, and white bass and bluegill. This one: http://www.mepps.com/information/comet-mino-5/157#description~C1M%20S 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted April 23, 2016 Super User Posted April 23, 2016 Panther Martin makes a Vibrant Image Fire Tiger color pattern that works good for bass. Tom Quote
bigturtle Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 love inline spinners, I make my own with different blade configuration and sizes and, its a good numbers lure. I only use 0-4 size blades Quote
Wprich Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I caught my first 7 bass last year on a yellow #6 dressed panther Martin and a blue/white vibrax, they were the only thing I could get them to bite that day. Inline spinners will catch most any fish that swims bass, trout, crappie, white bass etc. 1 Quote

Unlike the senko Quote
Super User king fisher Posted August 24, 2016 Super User Posted August 24, 2016 Inline spinners have been one my favorite lures for all fish. For trout in streams, the Panther Martin has been my best spinner. No other spinner even comes close. For bass both large mouth . I have had the best luck with French bladed spinners like Mepps, or Vibrax. I don't know why, and am curious if anybody else has had the same experience. Quote
timsford Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I catch lots of smallies and other species on white or chartreuse rooster tails with silver or gold blades. I use underspins more now though if I'm targeting bass primarily. I catch a lot more bass and they are bigger on average. I've used the fish head spin but I like the Davis baits and xtreme custom tackle versions better because they have better swivels and bigger, stronger hooks. I still use inlines quite a bit in creeks and streams but larger rivers or lakes I think the underspins offer the same type of presentation but better than an inline. I usually use super flukes as trailers Quote
blckshirt98 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I went to a stocked trout lake and the only fish I caught that day was a bass on a Panther Martin Holographic Rainbow Trout spinner! Quote

Probably BECAUSE they were indestructible. Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted August 24, 2016 Super User Posted August 24, 2016 The Panther Martin, under the right conditions, will catch any fish, anywhere. 1 Quote
