Hello BR

I have been doing lots of fishing latley and have noticed in a bunch of ponds that I fish there are beds near the banks. Which is normal but the only thing missing is the bass. I do understand that the water temperatures are changing but has anyone in the NC/SC area seen bass on the beds. I have been careful from the banks to not walk straight up to the edge but I am just wondering why they are not on the beds?

Note- the water I am fishing is clear

I've often seen beds up to 2 weeks before the actual spawn takes place.

Fished a tourney at Gaston this weekend. Was down for 4 days. There was a complete mixed, some on beds, some guarding fry while others showed no signs of spawning yet. The weather up and down has them all over the place.

here in NC the only beds Ive seen are the manhole size bluegill beds and as of yesterday they were on them hot and heavy. So, is the bass next or have then already went?

Manhole sized blue gill beds?  First, bass spawn before the blue gill.  Second, bluegill beds are small, and closely spaced, resembling a honeycomb on the bottom.

A cold front will drive bass off beds.

Here in SE VA, it appears the bigger bass may
have spawned. Areas I usually see beds either
had nothing, or "old" beds.

But then yesterday I found those same areas
with freshly made beds males guarding (for the
most part.)

None too big by what I could see. At least not
like I've seen in years past.
