JackKlassen Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Has anyone fished the smaller 90 sized Whopper Plopper? Been meaning to get my hands on a few... Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 ^ Helpful... I have one, but topwater bite has not even started for me. I still played with it a while, and expect great things. Good luck. 1 Quote
Cyacnba Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I've used them during my last 2 trips. It's pretty much the only lure that catches bass right now, but since it's the 90 size, expect to catch a bunch of small ones. There were a few 2lb bass as well, just not too many. Quote
ACORO Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 It gets bit...the 90 size does catch smaller fish most of the time but the big ones will still smash it. Buy with confidence in both the 90 and 130 size. Cant go wrong with whatever you decide to get. Quote
Fishin Ethan Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Yes works well great bait overall only downside to the 90 is that is catches smaller fish but more numbers Quote
Preytorien Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Up here in Indiana I tend to use topwaters that are on the smaller end of a manufacturers spectrum since a 5lb fish up here is noteworthy. That said, the 90 is the only size I'd even seriously throw. I've used it a few times since last fall when I got it. The topwater bite had significantly shut down by time I received mine, and it has yet to pick up this year, but I anticipate good things from it. It's more like a boosted up Arbogast Torpedo to me. Makes a lot of turbulence and you're able to stop it, both great things in my book. Post some good pictures on here when you land some bigmouths with it Quote
dday07 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Can't wait to try both sizes..just waiting to get the post spawn going here Quote
Dye99 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I keep a whopper plopper 90 tied on my top water rod at all times. I caught three or four on it this week. One of my favorite lures. 1 Quote
Oklahoma Mike Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Topwater bite is still slow here, but it is the only topwater I've caught fish on so far this year. I also have the 130 but haven't thrown that one yet. Quote
robster80 Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 slow topwater bite here. i always try toowater tho. caught a couple the other evening on my 2nd outing with the 90 size when they wouldnt bite anything else. just ordered a 130 also Quote
frogflogger Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Caught a 3lber first cast when in Florida this spring haven't thrown it up here yet. Quote
Cyacnba Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I used it again yesterday and caught a 3lb bass. Even a crappie went for the Whopper Plopper Quote
Dye99 Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Today I took the yak out, horrible wind, but then as the sun set, it died and went to glass. Caught three on a Plopper 90 in Perch.. I love that lure! Quote
