I'm a 14 year old living in MN and an avid bass fisherman. I am wondering what the best rod for under 150$ would be? I have looked at Duckett ghosts, *** Blacks,

Mojo Bass, and Blackouts.

They are both very good rods for $100. The Dobyns fury is also very good.

What are you looking for a spinning or casting rod? How do you like to fish moving baits like crankbaits and spinnerbaits or are you more into finesse fishing? Answering these questions will help others give you more detailed answers.

A couple of good options to start would be the Mojo bass rod and a Dobyns Fury.

Casting. I would be throwing mostly chatterbaits, t rigs, spinnerbait, and jigs. Maybe some walk the dog style topwaters too.

Hard to go wrong with the Avid X. For $150 you should be able to find one on the secondary market. I bought one new for $170 recently.

If you're wanting to save some coin and go a cheaper route, I'd recommend looking at the Lighting Rod Shock and the Hell bent from #8 tackle.

Where did you find an Avid X new for $170???? I'll get a second one if I could find that price, most sales exclude St. Croix.

Got a smokin deal from Thorne Bros back during the classic.

BPS Carbonlite, BPS Extreme, Academy H20, Berkley Lightning, Abu Garcia Veritas, all great rod's I have personally used and cannot knock one bit. Majority of my rod's are the BPS Carbonlite due to weight and sensitivity but any of these will be great rods and some will even be cheaper than your listed budget

Which ever rod you choose, I would suggest one in the 7' to 7'4" range and a MHF.   Used is an excellent way to go as long as the rod is in good shape.

Also keep an eye open for a used Hammer rod or for a sale on them.  Haven't had a chance to more than make a few casts with mine, but they are getting very good reviews.  May want to move up to a HF as the consensus is the Hammer rods fish a little light.  My MHs are rated 3/16-3/4 oz.  Don't know yet if they will handle a 3/4 oz. lure.

I'm not a fan of rod's less than 7 foot in MH, but FFO has a Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth 6'9" MHF for $74.88.  I've got several Smallmouth rods, and they are fantastic for the listed price of $129.99.  Actually have this rod, but it is the one I missed an eye on when stringing the line, and it now has a groove in the finish so I'm a bit leery that the blank might be compromised.  :(

I like the rods you mentioned, I don't think you could go wrong with any of those. I would also recommend the Daiwa Tatula. They are great: sensitive, light, and very durable. Regularly it's right at the top of your price range, but I've seen them on Amazon for somewhere between $100-125

I managed to pick up two for less than $100 each before tax from walmart * a year or so ago.  Really nice rods.

I'll go with the guys that said h20 express ethos rods for 59.99 you just can't beat them. I've got a 7'6 I've been flipping with that in all honesty I should have broken 2 or 3 times already that has held up great. All I buy anymore are the h20 ethos rods and h20 mettle reels

Ffo Tackle.com has Fenwick Aetos 6'4" MXF for $75 and the Elite Tech Smallmouth 6'9" MHF for $74.88.  PLUS, they  currently have a coupon code for buy one get one half off too. It does NOT have to be two of the same model.  Just two rods.  Fantastic prices for that level of rod.  So you could buy 2 Great rods for your $150 and have some money left over for line or lures.

I absolutely love FFO.  Since I found the website I haven't purchased a rod or reel from anywhere else, I don't see why anyone would pay retail when you could get it or a similar rod or reel for 40% -60% off.:)

There a lot of rods in that price range and everyone will like something different.  You will just need to try and handle as many of the rods in that range that you can.  I am Daiwa guy so I would look at the Tatula or Cronos rods.

Ethos rods from Academy. You can find them on sale for under $40 fairly often. I have 9 of them and they've been great rods.

If I were you, I would wait until the usual 15-20% off Memorial Day sales from online retailers and get TWO Dobyns Fury for about $175 shipped.
