I plan on getting a Daiwa Luna 253 for big swimbaits. I decided on that over the Calcutta options for the price.

However, Lew's has a new Super Duty coming out with a wide spool and a big handle... Awfully tempting.

The most appealing thing about the Lews over the Daiwa is that it weighs over 2 ounces less... A significant difference.

Thoughts?

Hmmm, Lew´s over Daiwa ....... nope, I´ll pick Daiwa 100 times out of 100 over Lew´s no matter if it weights 2 ounces more, how heavy can it be, 10 oz ? my Citica 200 DSV weights that and my Abu XLT Plus weights more than 10z, I´m a 5´8" 120 lb big boy so I can handle a 10 oz reel.

I stopped at "Calcutta." :)

(and I'm actually a Daiwa guy)

I would use one of my Ambassadeurs.  The Calcutta is one that's been on my "to try" list for a while now, but haven't been able to justify the expense when I already have the Ambassadeurs.

I have fished Calcutta's for years and have nothing but good things to say about them. I have used the 400B and 400D for my A-Rig duties along with a Cuardo 300E and was pleased with how all of them performed. I used to fish with a buddy who used a Luna 253 for years in salt water and he put that thing through the ringer with stellar results.

An Ambassadeur with 5:1 gears would be good for this. I built a pretty sweet wiffle spool model for this a few years ago.

Need me a wiffle spool.  Do you have a source?  I've looked all over.

The belonged to a friend of mine. Added different gears, Carbontex, upgraded and additional bearings, drilled idlers, and a handle from a one of those giant Revo winch reels. It was sweet. No idea where he got it.

Oh I'm sure I can handle it, it's just a matter of comfort/convenience.
