Bryant Blackmon Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 I would like to purchase one of the 2 I know they are for different purposes but I can switch a reel or 2 around to make everything work Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted April 21, 2016 Super User Posted April 21, 2016 That Type R + has a pretty special spool and are hard to come by. I would get one of those over the Pixy Type R unless you are diehard BFS guy. Quote
Bryant Blackmon Posted April 21, 2016 Author Posted April 21, 2016 also would like to throw in the steez Quote

There is the 100, 103, EX, and various SV and LTD models. Plenty of tuning options for all the reels you have mentioned as well. Buy all 3 and sell the 2 that you don't like if you are really on the fence. Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted April 21, 2016 Super User Posted April 21, 2016 The TDZ platform was the predecessor to the Steeze. Both are among the best magnesium reels Daiwa has made. Only drawback on the TDZ reels seems to be lack of high speed gear options for RH users. Quote
Bryant Blackmon Posted April 21, 2016 Author Posted April 21, 2016 Im aware that is why i said the 103H not SH @kickerfish1 Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted April 21, 2016 Super User Posted April 21, 2016 The TDZ type R+ is a special reel. I have 2 and am fortunate enough to be LH and get 7:1 gears. I will take these over almost every reel out past and present. Quote
Super User Raul Posted April 21, 2016 Super User Posted April 21, 2016 The Pixy Type R is no match to a TDZ Type R+. The TDZ Type R+ is a TDZ 103H with a Type R+ spool ( other than the spool the differences are purely cosmetic, the Type R+ has the 3 holes on top of the frame and has the anodized red tension knob cap and drag star ) TDZ Type R+ and IZE Custom TDZs have the Type R+ spool. The non SV Steez has the Type R+ spool. Steez spools are TDZ 103/105 compatible so you can turn a regular 103/105 into a Type R+ TDZ just by dropping in a Steez spool. The TDZ 100 US Trail is not compatible with the Type R+ spool. Quote
