Fish Eggs

So I went out to a private stock dam that I have permission to fish. Caught all kinds of tiny 8 inch bass. Walking along the shore I could see a ton of fish eggs in the water. My question is what can this tell me? How would you fish a pond where you can see fish eggs?

How do you know they were fish eggs?

My buddy went in the water and grabbed them

Not sure what your buddy grabbed, but it wasn't fish eggs.

Frog eggs would be my guess.

 If there are yellow perch where you are fishing it very well could have been perch eggs. Typically they spawn in 3-8 ft of water. They leave a long white egg mass that could be  up to 2 ft long. The do not make nesting sites. It would be laying on bottom most likely in a weedy area. They spawn when the water temperature is around 50 degrees up here in New England. If the eggs you found were real shallow and in a more spherical shaped egg mass then they are probably some sort of amphibian eggs most likely from toads or frogs.

They were clear/white looking and they were in 2 feet of water like mainebass described them. I live in South Dakota and I'm certain they were not frog eggs too cold for that yet. There is some yellow perch in this dam but we haven't caught any yet this year

Sounds like you found some yellow perch eggs.

What the heck is a stock dam? A pond? Do you have shad in there? This is the right time of year for shad to be spawning, they run the rocky shorelines and drop eggs in clusters. Its pretty late for perch to spawn, here in the midwest perch are going at 42-45 much like walleye. Ours were done about a month ago. Crappies are already spawning, water temp 60-65, bass should be moving on beds within a couple weeks.
