I am looking to buy a baitcasting rod/reel for jigs, preferably from abu Garcia, pfluegar, Berkley, or fenwick because those are the brands FFO carrys.  My budget for the combo is 80-100 dollars.  Any suggestions?

As far as rods a 7' to 7'6" medium-heavy or heavy action rod with a fast tip is what I use. The reel should be high speed. At least 6 to 1 or higher to quickly reel up the line. If you can find a combo like that you have a good setup. Personally, my reel is $85 and my rod is about $50. Jig fishing ain't cheap.

I agree with lakeannaangler, my set up is pretty similar except I use a BPS rod. Works great!

I know you have a preferred list of rod manf. but look into BPS Carbonlite. They are on sale right now and for that price it is a STEAL. Honestly I have posted this numerous times but I have more expensive rod's in my setup and the Carbonlite is just as light/sensitive/durable as any if not better than. If you must stick with the list you provided Abu Garcia Veritas is good have one for my frog rod. Berkley Lightning rods are a great budget rod as well and I have some of those

Thank you guys for all of the helpful replies.

Have you used the rod, and if you have, what did you think about the rods sensitivity?  (ffo just ran out of the pro max)

I havent used one personally.  I have some fenwick silverhawk rods from cabelas that I like alot.  if they are still on sale for $60, you might want to consider those too.  the new pro max are like $65 on Amazon

if you're still looking, this guy has a good deal

Thank you for the notice on that awesome deal.  I really wish I could buy that from him because, not even FFO has that combo so cheap, stkbassn has such a good seller rating and I would prefer to give my money to him instead of a big company.  But unfortunately my parents are convinced anyone selling something that's not from a big company like tw or basspro is going to rip me off and don't allow me to buy from them.:(. They were even nervous about me purchasing from FFO at first lol.  Thanks again for the heads up though, that is exactly what I am looking for.  I think I am going to get the Abu Garcia black max and pair it up with a Fenwick HMG rod.  Thank you guys for all of the replies and special thanks to Allen Der!

sounds like you're going to get a nice setup.  you can always upgrade that black max in a few years when you get a little more money
