Super User the reel ess Posted April 20, 2016 Super User Posted April 20, 2016 I bought some of these just because I love to fish craw type baits. Has anyone tried them? Sort of a cross between the T-rig and a jig. Looks like they'd remove the need to peg a sinker, but also cast and come thru grass quite well. 1 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted April 20, 2016 Author Super User Posted April 20, 2016 I did a poor job of showing the line tie, but it goes up about 30 degrees or so. 2 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 20, 2016 Super User Posted April 20, 2016 Looks pretty similar to a VMC Rugby jig head. 1 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted April 20, 2016 Super User Posted April 20, 2016 Cool. These do look like a good option for craw-sized baits in grass. VMC rugby head and Owner Ultrahead bullet and finesse ball heads have a similar style, with an EWG hook behind a leadhead. The charlie brewer spider slider too. I use all of those a lot and I really like the design -- I've wondered for awhile why more companies don't make a version of the same thing. The owner ball head is my standard shakyhead, and it has a tie at about the same angle, but vertical and not recessed. 1 Quote

I was really looking for a bare Arky jighead with a fiber weed guard for Hula Grubs. But Academy didn't have any. I saw these and liked the look of them. I don't know who makes the hook, but I use braid so it shouldn't matter too much. 1 Quote
snake95 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 @the reel ess tell us how you made out with these ds jigheads you bought back last April. I went into an Academy for the first time in my life today (they recently opened one within striking range for me) and was surprised to learn BBB makes jigs!). They apparently have Gammy hooks and seem to have a good length to put a swimbait (or anything) on. Any luck? 1 Quote
d-camarena Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Its one of my go to hooks. i use it for weedless keitechs, senkos and for flippin craws. Great product. Just easy on the drag, its not a real beefy hook 1 Quote

They are really too big for what I wanted them for: Chigger Craws and Hula Grubs. I have discovered shakey jigheads are better for the Hula Grubs. The BB jigheads are good for big to monster size worms though. And I think they'd be good for fishing soft plastic swimbaits down into weedy cover. They stay in the box because I know there will be a time they're just what the doctor ordered. 1 Quote
