I am curious what colors work for you guys for smallies. In my years of experience there is nothing compared to white tubes. Always have been and always will be my go too. Also chartreuse tends to pick up a considerable number of fish and is a close second to white. At times I find my self struggling to catch fish on other colors like black and blue or a crayfish color. What color works best for you guys?

All bass seem to like green pumpkin.

This.....with black/blue not too far behind it.

The color that works the best is the one you have the most confidence in. I usually stick with black and blue in muddy or stained water and some kind of green pumpkin in clear water for plastics and jigs.

black/blue and green pumpkin are always good but a long forgotten color is purple. All the first worms were purple and now with all the other colors on the market many forget about it. I still use it and brown alot and outfish many guys with alot of the newer colors.

Day in Day out from what I have found Green Pumpkin in lakes from MI to Al works.  Dirty water, clear water, etc.  If I would buy one color soft plastic it is a variant of green pumpkin.

I understand that green pumkin and browns work well. I was wondering if you guys had any weird go to colors for smallies. I swear by a solid chartreuse tube and one friend swears by purple and one by blue. They seem to like those weird colors around here. I can catch more bass in clear ish water on chartreuse then green most days it seems

Green pumpkin is the best color for nearly any condition.  Aside from occasionally black blue in very muddy water, green pumpkin is the only color I use.

I let the conditions decide most of the time.  If the water is clear, I'm going with natural colors, white, and chartreuse.  If it's bright out, I might use colors with shiny flecks, especially if there is a little stain to the water.  As it get stained and/or low light blue/black, purples, and other dark colors come into play, witha few exceptions like fire tiger or chartreuse accents.  Also, if the water is dark, most of the time it's a bigger profile lure and it's got rattles or Colorado blades.

When I'm fishing weeds, it's some variation of green. I'll often dip the tail in chartreuse. If I'm fishing rock or sand bottom, I try to match the bottom color with something having black or red flakes.

smoke with silver flake is another that works well for me

I haven't been fishing smallies long...didn't realize what I was missing. Only place I can hunt for them is the Quinnipiac river near where I work other than that I've got no clue. But the 4 inch Gary Yamamoto in rainbow trout caught me a nice on the other day. Other than that various color worms in 5 inch Texas rigged has worked... I typically throw green pumpkin...or black/blue or black n purple...or just plain black.yum dinner has a two tone white/grey mixture that produces no matter what...even the all white one. Even rainbow trout rooster tail in 1/6 has grabbed a few dinks of the small mouth variety

BBQing melons? Those California guys!  Next thing you know they'll be putting pineapple on pizzas.

Awesome color for a tube though.

In addition to the standard pumpkin/green pumpkin variants,  purple works pretty dang good for me.  I've hammered a lot of smallies on Junebug colored tubes and cranks with purple on them.  Smoke w/purple flake is another hot tube for me sometimes.

Today the river was clear and the crayfish were green/brown.  Coincidentally, watermelon and pumpkinseed put two 19" smallies in the boat, and I missed another because fighting current with a trolling motor is a losing battle, lol.
